Hi Everyone,

I'm a 17 year old female, 5'4, and about 118lbs. I just want to lose about 5lbs, and i was wondering if it's possible to do this just through exercise, without changing my diet. If this is possible, any help or tips would be appreciated!!

Thanks! :)

Well, if you keep your daily diet the same, then yes, you will lose wait just through exercise. If you're keeping the same amount of calories coming in, and then start exercising, your body will be burning more calories than you presently are burning. Simple math, my dear. One thing that I have found, however, is that the more active I am, the more I eat, which throws some additional factors into the equation...

It also depends on what type or exercise you're going to do, how often, the intensity, etc.

thanks so much!

And yeah, for the past two weeks i've been running/jogging 30-40 mins per day (6 days a week). I'm not really sure if that's enough to help me lose weight or not...Also, is it possible to lose 5 lbs in two weeks?

Holy crap! 30-40min of jogging 6 days a week! That's awesome. Keep that up and eat well, and I don't think you'll have a problem losing 5 or even 10lbs before too long.

A normal, healthy guideline is to lose approx 1lb per week. Some lose more, some lose less. There is obviously some debate over what rate is appropriate, but the 1lb per week is a gradual healthy approach. 5lbs in 2 weeks is attainable, but you'll have to watch what you eat. Don't skip meals = Very very bad. Eat smaller meals throughout the day rather than 3 large meals.

If you're planning on running that much, I would highly recommend that you go to a running specific store, have then evaluate your gait (running stride and foot strike) and recommend the proper shoes. You can hurt your ankles, knees, shins etc if you run that much in the wrong footwear. Seriously.

Thankyou so much guys!!

I really appreciate your help and support!! However, i have a small problem now. Since i started doing all the running, i've gotten blisters on the bottoms of my feet! I think they should be gone within a few days, but for the time being, any idea's of other types of cardio i could do? Or any other ways to keep working on losing weight?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
