A Few Questions For Anyone Out There

I have two questions.

1 - When I was working out, weight lifting and doing the treadmill at the gym, I was loosing about 5-6lbs a week. Upon starting my new diet and exercise routine last week, I did some research (thanks to the links on this site) about my projected weight loss and what I need to do to get there. It said, to get to my goal weight by my date (420 now and want to be 225 by May 1st 2008), that I would need to loose 4.5lbs a week and maintain that. Is this a manageable goal? I personally don't see why not, but I wanted to know if I am setting myself up for disappointment?

2 - I forgot. Ugh.

when i started out on this expedition,I was losing 1 percent of my body weight a week, which based on all the research I did was a safe number -

So 4 lbs currently puts you in that range, but as you're weight drops lower, it wont be as easy to put up a higher number...

The more weight you have to lose, certainly the faster rate you can afford to lose it without the negative consequences.

Disappointment is a separate issue, however. Weight loss is not always linear, even at your high weight. If plateaus arise, rather than being disappointed I think it's more a time to be proactive and modifying your approach.

Sounds good. I do realize that as my weight drops, I need to increase my exercise routine to be more aggresive to adjust for the change.

Basically, there are levels to it. Once I reach a level, I need to work harder to loose the weight. As it keeps going up, it keeps getting harder.

I just wanted to make sure that 4.5lbs was ok. Safe and healthy.

Certainly safe and healthy.

If you run into a snag and can't seem to figure things out, don't fret. Fire some questions to the forum. I'm sure a few bits of useful advice will be thrown your way!
