Sport A fairly average day's diet - Seem OK?

Sport Fitness
8.30am - 2 slices of wholemeal toast with butter

10.30am - 2 ryvitas with cottage cheese

12.00-12.40 high intensity cardio training mon/wed/fri

1.00pm - homemade veg soup, 1 slice of dry wholemeal bread, 2 pieces of fruit and a Jordans fruit & nut bar.

3.00pm - low fat yogurt & piece of fruit

5.00-6.00pm - weight training tue/wed/fri

6.10pm - tuna/chicken, salad/veg & jacket potato/bolied potato

I drink plenty of water & herbal tea during the day but also drink 2 pots of coffee during the morning amd have a malt drink before bed.

The only suppliments I take are a good multivitamin on a morning.

Am I giving my body enough fuel for my training? and does this diet seem resonably OK?

What are your goals? You need more protein throughout the day, especially with breakfast. Try to include some form of protein with every meal.

Get rid of the butter. Get more milk/chicken/fish for protein.

As AJP said, we need your goals to make effective judgements.

The butter does matter, if significant amounts of it are taken.

Just make sure you don't put a cup of the stuff on your bread. =P

Holy crap, how do you not have the shakes all day long. Some coffee is good for your body, but this may be extreme.

Other than that, what they said.

My goals: I have a resonable body which I just want to tone and maybe bulk up slightly. I have a bit of a belly but nothing too bad. I actually enjoy the cardio workouts and the fitness they bring. The weight training is a new thing for me so I am just doing a simple routine at the moment.

I have purchased some refles instand whey today and the packet says take 2 or 3 servings daily which I will start tomorrow.

Add some cottage cheese before bed.. your body isnt getting any nutrition for 14 hours according to your diet plan. The slowly absorbing casein protein will help you avoid muscle catabolism at night.

Also, consider adding a liquid protein/carb shake to help your body recover after your workout.. i usually make a shake of ~40g whey protein and ~70-80g simple carbs (gatorade, or fruit smoothie)

Cheers for the advice. I will take this on board.

ALso when I say pots I mean mugs of coffee.
