Sport a couple of food checks

Sport Fitness
bad? good? ok?

keep in mind i am very skinny trying to bulk up just a bit

-salami
-wheat bagel
(double fried salami sandwich with cheese on a wheat bagel with green lettuce is one of my most common meals)

-chow mien

very high fat content, salami is a sausage so it's probably full of sodium nitrate, which'll screw with anabolism and stunt your gains by screwing up nitrogen balance in the blood and muscles.

ok thanks ill try to lay off of it

heres another one:
blueberries
i know they are good for you but how much should i eat a day to get the benefits (they are expensive little suckers)

ya i ive been checking around on the best prices for frozen fruits

i got another one, im starting to eat an red delicious apple a day as part as my daily fruit intake since they are one of the cheapest fruits
however i never been a fan of the skin of the apple, it kills the nice moist taste of the inside and it bothers my fragile gums

does the skin of the apple have any significant nutritional value?

Buy bulk frozen and how much depends on your training goals, needs and caloric intake. The key is having a balanced diet overall.

I would check out this article.

John Berardi - 7 Habits

Thanks for posting this link.

1. Eat every 2-3 hours, no matter what. You should eat between 5-8 meals per day.

2. Eat complete (containing all the essential amino acids), lean protein with each meal.

3. Eat fruits and/or vegetables with each food meal.

4. Ensure that your carbohydrate intake comes from fruits and vegetables. Exception: workout and post-workout drinks and meals.

5. Ensure that 25-35% of your energy intake comes from fat, with your fat intake split equally between saturates (e.g. animal fat), monounsaturates (e.g., olive oil), and polyunsaturates (e.g. flax oil, salmon oil).

6. Drink only non-calorie containing beverages, the best choices being water and green tea.

7. Eat mostly whole foods (except workout and post-workout drinks).
So what about calories, or macronutrient ratios, or any number of other things that I’ve covered in other articles? The short answer is that if you aren’t already practicing the above-mentioned habits, and by practicing them I mean putting them to use over 90% of the time (i.e., no more than 4 meals out of an average 42 meals per week violate any of those rules), everything else is pretty pointless.

ya i attempt something similar... definitely not completely by the book but its a heck lot better than eating fast food all day

i going back to the sodium nitrate someone mentioned as being bad for muscle gains
however as i look it appears every lunch meat contains this... yet i was under the impression meat like turkey is good for you.

i also try to drink a cup of green tea every day for antioxidants but i hate drinking anything hot so i let it chill in the freezer. Would this somehow significantly lower the original antioxidants?
