Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could do some long and intensive cardio workouts but still maintain the muscle I've gained from lifting. I've been doing a push/pull/leg split followed afterwords w/ some HIIT. I've decided, though, to enter some 5K races coming up and need to change up this program.
I've decided that I'm going to split my weight training from my cardio so that I don't have anaerobic activity after lifting. Basically, I'll be doing weights in the morning and then my running in the early evening. I was wondering if I should be drinking a protein shake after running to try to maintain muscle? I was also wondering if increasing my overall caloric intake would also be useful?
Thanks,
Shawn
