55 and still alive

just got this I couple days ago about me a little bit 55 230 pounds try to join gym cost too much so I started walking found out walking suck when you smoke. quit smoking down to 175. It has taken a little over 4 years to get here I wal, for 1 power walk for 2 and started trial running last year . We have a state park with over 34 miles to run bike and hike. It has taken me a year I started walking there and then run I ru a 3 mile trial. Tryed the 5 but its to much for this old man. I have two degenerating disc in my lower back how to play in my neck. So 5 is out for now would love to get there. But I am haveing fun doing the 3. It was taken me arou d 40 min at first but I am down to 29 most days . What I hope to get out of this forum is friend and how to recover faster and be adle to run longer . Thanks all c u n the woods
 
I am 42 and will turn 43 very soon. I know I am not young anymore but I feel much stronger now than when I was in my 30's and even in my 20's lol, but most of all I feel good and never felt the feeling of being old haha. I go for a walk sometimes and I love it when I sweat, it's like my body would shred all the toxic out from my body. But sometimes I need to start my day early and have no time to go for a walk coz if I do that I need to start very early in the morning but most times I have no time to do it. So what I do is to workout at home with my workout dvd's at anytime convenient for me. I workout for for about 30, sometimes 45 minutes everyday except Sunday coz it's my rest day. Fitness is really great it helped me staying in shape and feel young lol. My goal is not just to get a sexy abs but just to stay fit. I don't have much idea about what you are asking but I replied to your post coz it is amazing to hear people like your age who is active and wants to stay fit. I hope you will reach your goal buddy. Keep it up........dig deep!!!
