Hey all,

I've been doing p90x doubles with my muay thai training recently with some new 90 day goals. Keeping a log for some time, doing some research, and just talking to others that hit their fitness goals I now know my problem.

Its the nutrition.

I am trying to change to a 5-6 meal routine now but I am having a hard time. Not that I am not able to do it. The problem I am having is finding the right meals. I usually only have time to cook dinner. Every other meal would have to be quick except my last one which is a protein drink. Can anyone give me some tips or ideas on quick meals? Maybe something that I can buy like a microwavable meal or something? If I could find a quick solution or a better plan. I'll be much better situation. Recently, I've been thinking I'd try the zone diet but it does not have any "quick" options for busy people. I just do not have time to make every meal.

Any ideas?

Why are you so keen on doing 5 or 6 meals a day if it doesnt fit into your lifestyle?

I'm only doing it because research has shown that if you eat 5-6 small meals compared to 3 a day you will lose body fat much easier. So I'm going to stick to that plan but just need help.

Really? What research? :D

That's a dieting myth that's been busted for a long time. The ONLY reason that eating 5-6 meals a day (or a combination of meals and snacks) is beneficial is that it prevents people from getting too hungry over a longer period of time and binging at their afternoon or evening meals.

If your schedule makes 5-6 meals difficult, then don't do 5-6 meals. There are all kinds of variations you can do - ultimately it's more about calories and a balance of nutrients than how many times you eat.

Many people make one meal their "big" meal of the day and fill in the rest of the time with snacks instead. Some people divide the bulk of their calories between 2 or 3 meals and that's it. Some people add in a few snacks during the day just to help curb hunger pangs.

What works for YOU is what's best.

I agree with Kara has just said. I asked the question because I thought that you may have been taken in by that myth...

I didnt resort to any of that when I dropped 168 pounds. Eat when it suits you to eat and eat healthily - ensuring that the calorie total makes sense.

Monitor your food and activity on and you will see your calorie balance which is the weight loss that you deserve. You will also see a breakdown of your nutrients so that you can tailor them for both good health and losing weight effectively. If you study the nutrition section paying particular attention to the sticky threads you will learn what you need. Many people think that they eat a balanced diet until they actually count the different nutrients in their diet.
