4 day weight loss

Hi. I am very new here, and have been looking over a lot of the other questions, but thought I would post one of my own. I am going to the Carribbean on Sunday, and am looking to lose as much weight as possible before then. I am looking for things that will help me look my best quickly. I am not really overweight, although I am slightly heavier than I used to be, and than I would like to be. I am female, 24 years old, 5'6", about 150 pounds, maybe slightly less. I am fairly athletic, or atleast I used to be. I had knee surgery not too long ago, and so haven't been able to do much for the past 3 months or so. I've done a bit of strength work, no weights, just sit ups, pushups, pullups on the door frame, etc.

I'm wondering what would be the best thing for me to do in the four days that I have left. I know you can't spot reduce, but my legs are not nearly as muscular as they used to be, due to inactivity since my surgery. I can jog (sort of, with a limp), and can do and weight training necessary. I just want to look the best possible on the beach.

Here's my theory of weight loss:
The ease with which you take off weight is inversely proportional to the ease with which you put it on.

In other words, if you really had to struggle to put on those extra pounds, if you had to carefully monitor your diet to be sure you were in a caloric surplus, well, then the pounds will be very easy to take off.

If, on the other hand, you are like most of us, and put on those pounds without really thinking about it, then they will come off with a lot of struggle.

So you tell us -- did you add that weight the hard way or the easy way. If you added it the easy way, then don't expect much in 4 days.

I would just keep walking and improve that as much as possible.

Losing weight and getting in shape is not a short term thing. It takes hard work. Sorry, but I honestly couldn't give you an answer you would like to hear at this point.

4 days huh....

Well, 4 days is not really enough time to lose more than a pound or two really. You could do extreme calorie deficiency(starving yourself) or some 4 day "miracle" diet and lose maybe 5-10 at best, but I highly suspect it would all be gained back plus some while on vacation anyways. Not a great plan in the long run. Plus with injuries you wouldnt want to push it and possibly get injured further.

However, that said, you could begin now on a sensible fitness plan, which even though you wouldnt drop amazing weight in 4 days, would give you a kickstart for getting in shape during or after the holiday. I know when I go on holiday, calorie counting and regular exercise go out the window, so I usually dont sweat it too much.

If you are looking for an instant weight loss fix to sculpt you for the beach, I would say it is not likely to happen. Anything you take off in a fad diet will come back to haunt you when all those yummy foods hit you overseas. But it is never to late to start heading down the right path, even if you stray a bit while on the holiday itself.

Hope you have a great trip.

Four days isn't enough to lose any weight or get toned up at all really, not much anyway.

Instead, I suggest buying a really nice patterned tankini or bikini, and wearing a sarong with it, or a nice long white skirt. Don't stress yourself thinking about it! If you feel great, you'll look great!

Treat yourself to some new clothes or do some exercises (that makes me happier) and think of worse things. Then, if you still want.. when you get back, start losing weight/toning up then.

nice to see you back tony...

Thanks Mal. Its good to be back.
