5'10" 330lb's. Not pretty numbers.
Obviously I have motivation issues and problems with impulse control. I am aware there are no magic pills or formulas. I know I need discipline.
My history starts as an athletic, intense adolescent athlete. I gradually worked my way into a beer drinking buffet eating good time having less athletic young adult. From there progressed into a non-athletic beer drinking buffet eating, couch potatoing adult.
Unfortunatley the non-athletic beer drinking buffet eating, couch potatoing adult phase was the longest of my life. From about 24 until present. I have had brief periods of success in regard to becoming healthier but just can sustain any meaningful habits. The longest was about 6 weeks but typically I hit the 3 week period and find numerous excuses to make poor decisions.
I have two young children my son is just over two years old and my daughter is 6 mos old. My father died from complications associated with diabetes when I was 16 and I don't want to follow in his footsteps.
My goals are modest. I want to be healthier. I want to play with my childrens children. I want to be a better athlete. I know even @ 5'10 330lbs I am a decent beerleague ball player. I want to hit for a little more power and get upm and down a basketball coirt a few times. I think if I could just get down to 300lbs by the end of softball season I could parlay the feelings of success into more life changing habits.
I am realativley fitness smart. Putting that knowledge into practice is a lot more problematic. I do however have questions and really hope this is the place to get answers.
I think I am more serious about making these changes but it is hard to say. My workouts work for me when I stick to them for more then a few weeks. Ideally I would work out 5 days a week but could live with 4 and settle for 3. I have recently cut out soda, salt(adding salt not salty foods), frozen pizza's. Am still a fast food junkie but am cutting back and find it even easier when I am working out. I have started seeing a regular Dr. and dietician. The only real medical concern right now is high blood pressure and I have already brought that down since fist seeing the Dr. Hopefully these small steps are building blocks for the things I want to accomplish.
All advice and comments welcome. Wish me luck.

My initial goal is to continue to eat a bit healthier(everyting is relative) and get five workouts in between now and when I meet again with my dietician next Thursday.
