Hello friends. As the title states, I'm a 33 year old fellow, and pretty heavy.
I apologize if this is poorly organized, ranty, and aimless. I'm seeking some advice, help, and ideas from people who have experience with someone like me.

I've spent a lot of time reading about the best way to approach large-scale rapid weight loss, and as I'm about to become a father, no time like the present, yeah?

So here's my situation. Any and all advice helps.

I've basically sat in a chair for the last ten years. Desk jobs, driving jobs, nothing really physical. I am a joke at the gym. Walking, climbing stairs, and bending at the knee hurts my joints.
Running is basically a dream to me. I can't walk and maintain conversation. I will get winded. My diet usually consists of breads, pastas, and everything else bad for you.
A major issue with me (and this is going to make me sound very childish) is I'm a picky eater. I don't like a lot of things like vegetables, greens, etc.
Furthermore, I'm one of those kinds of people who needs to be told exactly what to eat, when, serving size, etc. I can follow it, but if left to my own devices, I'll eat large.
Here's the crazy part. I was thin when I was younger, and was always a tad bit "husky", but never morbidly obese. I don't eat cupcakes, pie, and all that.

Anyway, all being said... Is there a "routine" or a system for those of us who are larger than large? People who can't even run anymore? I'm at the end of my rope.

Thanks everyone.

Good day mark. There is no system and I really don't like the mentality that there's some miracle diet, system, weight loss program that will suddenly make you lose weight. I wish that would be the case, but unfortunately it's not. However, weight loss is a very simple process - your body requires X amount of calories on a daily basis, and you eat Y amount of calories every day. If X > Y then you lose weight, if X < Y then you gain.

Breads and pastas are not really that bad for you. They are not optimal food because they are high in calories. For example 100 grams of pasta may have 300 calories where is 100 grams of white rice will have around 100-120 calories. But you can lose weight even eating pasta and bread (although, it's not recommended).

Basically, you need to figure out what is your daily calorie needs, you can do so by using a simple calculator like this -

Once you get that number, subtract 500 calories per day and stick to that for a week. Weight will start dropping pretty quickly. I wouldn't go lower than that since rapid weight loss may lead to loose skin. Weight loss is a simple as that. With your size it's incredibly easy to lose a lot of weight. The only battle will be with your own mind trying to keep yourself away from eating junk food.

I hope this helps, but if you got questions fire away.
