Hello everyone, I am Lance. I am 300+ lbs and I am looking for support, motivation and help to lose weight. I have tried in the past but I tend to lose the will power and/or motivation and give up. I hope, visiting here will help me get the weight off for good.

Please, I need any tips or encouragement available.

hey, great start, what are you doing at the moment to lose weight

I've switched out normal soda for diet, started working again. (At Dollar General.) So i've been standing and stocking a lot. So far that is it. But i've already gone from 389 to 373.

Good start! Switching to diet soda will help - but try to reduce how much you drink also. Diet sodas still induce sugar cravings like the regular ones

Well done for bringing your weight down to 373.
Keep up the good new habits and when things get a little easier add some other good new habits to the list - e.g. cutting out or down on sweets.
Bit by bit we can switch our diet and lifestyle to get us through the journey to a slimline figure.

Hey buddy! I also am a 300+ lb man starting on my own journey. Awesome job on already losing some weight. Keep it going buddy. Do you have access to a treadmill or anything like that? I just picked one up and it's going great for me.

You are lucky having all that land. Walking outdoors is brilliant - as long as it isn't raining.

The first month was the hardest for me. It took me a while to reprogram my brain. I started at 435 lbs. Now I am down to 355lbs. I have seen so much progress and that is what fuels me. The other day I ran for the first time in many many years. I ran for a quarter mile, to some it may not seem like alot, but I broke down and cried afterwards. Its those little moments that push you to go even further. I wish you great success in your journey.

Good job Jabbins!

Unless you like rain, like me.

That's lucky!!!

I know that when I did my big project a decade ago (where I lost 168 pounds) my principal exercise was outdoor walking... It was great in the good weather - but my diary from that time full of me complaining about feeling like a drowned rat when I went out and did my walking in heavy rain...

Its a very effective exercise.

Wow this is so awesome and inspiring. I wish I felt like my progress was more of an accomplishment. I've lost about 20lbs in 2-3 months; i'm around 260lbs now and it feels like it is not moving any more. I'm trying hard to eat healthier; exercise more and so on but it feels like very little is changing at the moment.

It probably doesn't help I've not been eating any breakfast for the past week. My hope is that starting at the gym (which I started about a week ago) has been working on my muscle which means I am still losing fat but not losing weight. I think I've got to the point where I feel like i'm enjoying going to the gym; it's just time for me to rest my mind and zone out so i'm hoping it can only get better.

You guys sound like your doing a great job; better than me anyway! I wish you the best - I hope to hear some more inspirational stories like this in the future!

20 pounds is a brilliant accomplishment...
envisage 2 pounds of butter and imagine 10 of them...
alternatively see if you can see what a pound of fat looks like in the butcher's shop...
It will never make you think little of "just a pound"... Its always a brilliant accomplishment...
No wonder we like to feel good about each and every pound.

You have to remember it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Things take time. Eating a small breakfast is of course good . One thing that can be good is to find somewhere or someone who has one of those scales that measures fat, water and all that . I have one that comes through our work already and we go over my numbers every 3 weeks. He can tell me if I'm retaining water and if I lost fat percentage, but no weight, which is still good. 20lbs is great though , good work :)

Hey Gibberingmaw, hows things going so far? any new challenges or set backs?
