Hi there!
I am motivated!
I have no more excuses! My "I just had a baby" excuse is too old! My baby just turned ONE!
I DO have a plan though... I made a DATE with my neighbor/friend for tomorrow! We are starting a spinning class at 5:45 a.m.
I also have been walking 2 miles on my break at work with 2 co-workers daily for a week now.
MY GOAL: lose 25-30 pounds by the end of OCTOBER at which time I will be FORTY YEARS YOUNG!!!!!!!!

My reward? A HUGE 40th B-day party with my friends and family!!
WISH ME LUCK!!!
;)

Here is my update:
I have been wanting to start a spinning (cycling) class at my gym... you know, the one I frequent 3-5 times a month:D LET ME REPHRASE THAT, the one I will be attending 3-5 times a week to meet my goal.:p

So anyway yesterday (4/27/06) I woke up at 4:30am afraid to go back to sleep because the morning spinning class starts at 5:45a.m. I was nervous but I had set my goal and I was going to stick to it. I got dressed grabbed my waterbottle and away to the gym I went.

I got to the gym at about 5:15 and decided I would "warm up". So I did some upper body machine exercises for my chest, shoulders, and biceps. Now these machines face the "spinning" class. I kept going back and forth as it got closer to the class start time... should I go? What if it's too hard? What if I can't make it thru the class? So I decided to ask a girl who went into the class early: " is this a beginning class" she kind of chuckled and said, "it's supposed to be but this instuctor is tough, I would say it is more like an intermediate class".... I got more nervous and my first thought was to turn around and run, but the girls said, "It's a great workout, here, I will help you adjust your bike" now I was stuck! LONG story short, I sweat my A$$ off but I made it through the entire 45 minutes and I felt GREAT!! I burned 500 calories!!! I wanted to kill the instructor, all 5 feet and 90 pounds of her but she kept me motivated! I kept telling myself, if she can do it, I can do it! AND I DID!! Yeah me! ha ha I was proud of myself! Then on my break at work, I walked 2 miles in 25 minutes! I ate healthy and felt great ALL day!

I WILL REACH MY GOAL IN OCTOBER!!!

Welcome! You can do it! I had two kids in 14 months (they are 7 & 8 now). It seemed my body didn't want to rebound after the second one. I did lose the weight and really felt good about it. You'll feel great at 40.

PS - so why is my weight back up you ask? A VERY stressful 5 years. I'm back to losing and want to be healthy and feeling good within a year.

Thanks so much for the story about the spin class. My gym has them too, but I'm scared to death to do it. I keep thinking that my back will break being hunched over for an hour, that I'll be dead and get run over by another spinner ;) or who knows what! I really appreciate hearing your story...maybe I'll do it this week too! GOOD ON YA!!!:D

My Diet..... hmmm..

Well for now, I am just cutting down on portion size. I am eating more salads (which I love) and eating less carbs. I don't believe in "diets" FOR ME because I crave things I can't have more often. SO... If my family has steak and rice or potatoes, I will cut up my piece of steak and put it into a salad. OR if my family eats tacos, I forgo the taco shell and just eat the lettuce, tomatoes, and throw in the cheese, and meat. I think we all know what to do as far as our diets. I think in my case, I sometimes eat out of boredom, or I confuse hunger with thirst... or sometimes when I am stressed, I eat. So I am trying to account for everything I eat and have been pretty good in drinking my 64 ounces of water daily. I drink one glass in the morning as soon as I wake up (16 ounces), 2 bottles of 16.9 ounces at work, and one bottle when I work out and another glass of water at dinner. (OK sorry if this is TMI, but the way I KNOW I am drinking enough water, is by the color of my pee! the lighter the better!) ha ha sorry!
OH another thing, I am trying to eat more veggies:cool: and no eating 2 hours before bedtime.

Friday 4/28 I walked 2 miles and I did only 10 minutes on the eliptical because my baby (the one year old) was sick so I did what I could. Saturdays and Sundays I don't work out USUALLY because it's family time but I worked out enough trying to carry two toddlers in the beach on the sand! Now I know what it feels like to have an extra 50 pounds! YIKES! I was huffing and puffing! I will have to post a picture so you can see....
Today, my plan at the gym is to do 45 minutes on the eliptical!! Wish me luck!
OH and of course, my 2 mile walk!

Hey can anyone help me put a tickler or whatever you call those signature blocks with my starting weight and goal weight?
Not sure if I have posted my stats but here goes:
Height 5'3"
Starting weight: 171
Short term goal weight: 150
and ultimate goal weight: 138-140
Current pant size:12-14
Goal pant size: 8
Current blouse size: 14
Goal blouse size: 10

Here is a picture of me with my girls. Now the next time I take a picture at the beach I better see an improvement and perhaps less clothes! ha ha
Have a HAPPY DAY EVERYONE!!!
LET'S DO IT!!!
LET'S MAKE OURSELVES PROUD!!!
WE CAN DO IT!!!!!

Periwinklegirl and Aussie :

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks periwinkle girl! That sure gives me hope! My girls are 14 months apart too! It's tough but getting easier! Please tell me it gets easier as they get older! I truly enjoy being a MOMMY! It's the hardest job I have ever had but the MOST rewarding!! Good luck to you!:)

Aussie:
Hi and thanks! Yeah you made me laugh! (about getting run over!:p )
Anyway yes, that class is intimidating. I wasn't sore at all after and I felt great all day! The good thing is that you can go at your own level throughout the spinning class. If the instructor tells you to turn up the tension 1/2 a turn, just turn it 1/4 of a turn. (no one is watching!:D ) ha ha
My main goal was to make it through the class and I DID! My fear was that my butt would be sore (and belive me, I have lots of natural CUSHION) but it wasn't. Just have someone help set your bike up to the proper settings and you will be fine!! LET me know when you take the class! (notice I said WHEN and not IF) You will feel so wonderful when you do!!! Good luck!:)

How often do you weigh yourself???

I was pretty proud of myself as was my hubby, when I got up early this morning to work out. I wish I would have gone to bed earlier last night because I would have made the 5:45am cycle/spinning class but I didn't. So instead of hugging my pillow and turning over, when I noticed it was too late to go to the gym, I got my booty out of bed and went downstairs to workout on my eliptical machine. I cranked up my itunes while everyone was sleeping, and I originally planned on doing "at least 20 minutes", then before I knew it, I noticed I was at 22 minutes and was feeling good so I said, ok I will go to 25 minutes then I said well, it's only 2 more songs and I will hit 30 minutes well I did but then I have this weird thing about burning x amount of calories.... if I do 20 min. on the eliptical I should burn 200 calories, if I do 30 I should burn 300 calories and I was only at 285 burned calories by the time I reached 30 minutes so my 5th goal (in my 30 minute workout:D )was to reach 300 calories, so I ended up doing 32 minutes and burning 300 calories!

Now a four hours later, I am at work getting ready to do my 2 mile walk.

Stepped on the scale and I GAINED one pound!! I was so bummed! Then I remembered it's PMS week so HOPEFULLY I will see at least a few pounds go down by the end of the week.

NOTE TO SELF: do not weigh yourself daily!!!!!!!!!
How often does everyone else weigh themselves??????

How often does everyone else weigh themselves??????

I don't even own a scale.... Should I get one? Or should I just be surprised the next time I go to the doctor????

hmmm...THE SCALE....

Well, for me, I think I am only going to weigh myself every 2 weeks. The reason being that sometimes, like today, I work my a$$ off and then I am not sure what the heck I am thinking, I mean do I really expect to see a weight loss just because I did one spin class and ate well yesterday??? WELL YEAH!:D ha ha I know my weight fluctuates especially during that time of the month... so I think my new plan is just weigh myself on the 15th and 30th of every month because if I really try to eat well and exercise and I don't see a difference in the scale, then I feel like, what the heck am I even working out so hard for? We'll see.

TODAY:
I went to my second spin class at 5:45 this morning. I was actually at the gym at 5:10 and I worked out my upper body. I did biceps, triceps, chest, back, (no shoulders-though I thought about it but my right shoulder is a hurting a little), and I did some sit-ups. After that, my friend said "are you going to take the class" I didn't want to whimp out so I said YEAH I am.
Well this was a different instructor than the last one and she kicked my butt! My friend walked out after 20 minutes and I promised myself, I would stay up until the last 5-10 minutes - I stayed to the very end! I feel so great today. IT's not even 8:30 and I have already done a great workout, and drank 51 ouces of H2O! :p
I went home and I boiled an egg put it on a tortilla with salsa and cheese and it was mmm mmm good! I also brought a cup of coffee to work...not like I need more energy but I feel really good. It is amazing what a good workout will do for you. OH and also getting sleep! I average oh about 5-6 hours of sleep per night but last night my goal was to be asleep by 10 I went to bed at 10 and fell asleep around 10:30, I was up by 4:45 so I did pretty good, considering I usually don't make it to bed til midnight... I KNOW SLEEP is important so I am trying to work on that too!
OH my first spin class was good but I really didn't care for the TECHNO music so it was kind of a turn off. Today, the music was awesome! I will definitely be back for another great workout tomorrow or Thursday... My goal is 2-3 times a week of spinning.

Started My First Journal!!!

MY JOURNAL CAN BE FOUND UNDER "SPINNING MY WAY BACK TO ME" See ya there!!! :D :p

ciaoana, sorry for the late reply,

Your diet (or lets say eating habits) seems really good. About the weight - everybody's weight fluctuates. That's why it is a good idea to just stand on the skale once every week or so, at the same time of day.
