Hey, 26 year old guy here (5'10 173 pounds). I am a runner (usually run 25 km a week) and although the main reason I run is because I love the rush of running and the challenge of getting faster the calories burned has helped me eat a lot of junk food. I haven't run much in the last month as I have been laid low with a glandular problem caused by a viral infection but I am on my way back now, thank God. Anyway I have been happy with my weight for the last 4 - 5 years (as before that I used to be nearly 200 lbs) however I have gone back up from 165lbs. Most of my clothes still fit well but I noticed that a couple pairs of jeans and trousers are feeling tighter. So, I would just like to know some advice on which kinds of food to avoid and which to eat more in order to lose a few pounds on my legs and butt. I drink a lot of water, have enough fruit & veg and my main meals are healthy. The problem is eating crisps, chocolates and fizzy drinks. This week I have reduced my intake of junk food and also started having more green tea which is very nice. Which kind of healthy snacks do you recommend instead of crisps and chocolates. Also are diet drinks like diet cola okay in moderation as I know they don't have calories (well maybe 3 or 4 in a can) but they have sweetners which seem worrying. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Well, first I have to tell you is the weight loss will occur where it wants as you can't spot lose weight. Noting I can advise you will cause fat to leave your legs and butt till your genetics says so.

About diet soda, I can say I drink a ton of it. The main worry is sodium, it's going to add up. The sweeteners and such, well there are different studies saying both ways. If it is something you worry about, then switch to water or such.

Snacks? nuts, greek yogurt, a bit of cheese, hell to be honest, it all comes to moderation.

Thanks Jericho. Yea I agree about the genetics and body shape make up. The reason I said weight off my legs and butt is because that is where I put on the weight when I went up from 165. Hopefully when the weight falls off it will be in the same area otherwise I am going to become even skinner on my top half which is not good!

Weight goes on in one order and comes off in the exact opposite. So if it went on recently, it will come off earlier. It's why people always say ' No matter how much I lose, I never can lose the weight on my hips' or such. It was the first on, last off.

I agree with Jericho. The junk food and the other stuff all add up to a Total Calories Per Day number. If that is great than what your body uses, you will get fat.

The sodium is going to retain weight also
