As far as I can tell nobody has started a 2009 thread relating to goals or accomplishments of 2008. I'm sitting here in CA waiting for the clock to hit midnight and it dawned on me that another year has completely passed (again) and there is so much to reflect on and be grateful for as we head into another year! What are some of your best 2008 accomplishments (fitness related or not) and what are some goals you are looking forward to in 2009?

For me: 2008 held some things I never thought I'd see myself pursue. I participated in my first half ironman..which was HUGE and I wouldn't have done without the amazing support and prodding of local friends, and athletes on THIS board. I also completed a marathon which I honestly never thought I'd EVER attempt in my life.

2009 holds for me unaccomplished goals I had in 2008. I will revisit that half ironman and the marathon but I have time goals for both as well as other events. My goals include having more fun with my fitness, not taking things so seriously, and encouraging others more along the way.

Goal - to win my comp in August; obtain a bench record for under 200lbs - I am hoping for close to 400lbs bench there while running the 5k in under 19 min. -- Therefore, easing into the second goal:

Goal - to market my patent pending products effectively and grow my business.

Sparrow, normally I do not look forward to another year, but I can't wait to put 2008 in the rearview mirror for a variety of reasons.

But, that said, I have 3 primary goals for 2009:

1. Stay out of the cardiac ward or any hospital for that matter
2. Be the best father, husband, friend and person I can be.
3. Get my business back to 2006 levels

and 7 secondary goals:

4. Complete a half Ironman (Gator Half with FF on April 5) in under 7 hours and a sprint tri 600m/13mile/5K in June in 1:20
5. Do a 5K in under 25 minutes (currently 27:30)
6. Break 7 minutes for a single mile (currently 7:50)
7. Break 1:05 for a 40Km bike time trial (on a tt / tri bike) (currently 1:20 on road bike)
8. Bench 225# (currently 200)
9. Get weight down to 180#, which will make numbers 1 - 5 easier to accomplish (currently 196)
10. 15 chinups (currently 9)

2008 2009

2008 was a year of challenges. In June I completed the MS 150 a two day 150 mile bike ride. In September 4 friends and I road our bikes from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh, PA, a 4 day 335 mile bicycle ride. And finally in October I completed the Marine Corps Marathon 10K. Weight dropped to 174 and body fat is 11% and VO2max is 56.

2009 goals are set and I will continue to need the support from this forum. MS150 in June, Olympic distance triathlon in August and the full Marine Corps Marathon in October.

I started an early resolution thread, but my goals on getting CSCS recertified have been reached. And I'm currently working towards my PTA licensure that started this year.

A marriage, plus going back to school, plus a new manager job, plus recertification, plus more knowledge of the human body...not a bad year. and it will only get better from here.

-Finish my 90 day fitness project and start a new one.
-Pay off the debts I owe by the end of the year.
-Invest time and effort into education.
-Go skydiving again and invest time into findind another extreme sport to try.
-Go out more. lol
-Go sub 10% bf.
-Finish my ISSA course.

^
If I acheive all of this by the end of 2009 I will be more than happy with myself.

With all my debts payed off, I will take a financial break come 2010 and will travel and explore as much as I can before I decide to buy a house.

Hope you all get what you want in 2009.

:D

Happy new year!

The greatest accomplishment for me in 2008 was graduating with my bachelor's degree....finally after 6 yrs!! I also got a promotion in August which leads me to something I want to accomplish in 2009....becoming really great at what I do, it generally takes 2 yrs to learn everything in my position.

Also in the later part of 2009 I hope to get accepted into graduate school. I also hope to make working out and eating healthy a part of my every day routine.

It's the same as any other year for me: continue working out, eating healthy, doing new things, meeting new people.

Really it's just a continuation of a lifestyle that works for me :)

not sure yet. I'm thinking about starting a bulk. I'm getting too light for my height but haven't shed the love handles for some reason. I'm down to 213 and I"m 6'-3".

either way I plan to keep going with my healthier lifestyle.

Just one goal in 2009 (so far, I'm sure I'll add more later!)

Run a half marathon in April. And only two subgoals: to finish the half marathon, and not to finish dead last. Second to dead last would be acceptable! Anything better than that will be icing on the cake!
