OK. I'm new to the site and i have two questions

1:
I have been going to the gym 5 days a week for the past 2 weeks and i've been eating no desserts and more healthy. I have not lost one single pound. am i doing something wrong? when should i expect some results? it's a little discouraging not going down atleast a little bit with all my hard work. i'm trying to stick with my routine but its hard when i dont see results.

2.
OK. I work out at the gym...cardio and weights. for cardio sometimes i will do an hour on the arc trainer burning maybe 630 calories not producing a good sweat. And sometimes i'll go on the elliptical for a half hour burning 350 calories and producing a good sweat. Which is better? or does it not matter how much i sweat? should i just go for the workout i burn the most calories with?

I will try to answer your questions based on what I know. I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.

Do you know how many calories you are consuming? Do you know what your BMR is? Find out your BMR and figure out what you need to create a caloric deficit to lose weight. Create an account on Fitday and track your calories. Weight loss is calories in vs calories out. You need this information.

Sweat means nothing. I sweat standing still outside in the winter time. Heart rate is what you need to track. Do not go exclusively off the counter on the machines, again- heart rate is what is important.
Read the stickied threads around in the exercise and nutrition forums, there is a wealth of information there that is extremely useful.
What is your gender?
What do you weigh?
What is your height?
What is your age?

Again- I am not a pro. I am just a guy who has been reading around here for a bit. Someone will correct me if i grossly wrong.

yah did good Brian...

Point 1 is especially spot on - you can eat healthy you can eat crap - if you're taking in too many calories you aren't going to lose a pound..

Your stats would be helpful as well as what your goals are..

Hey... they are right about the caloric intake being a big part of weight loss. I suggest you try the website thedailyplate.com. It's kind of a pain to log everything youve eaten for the day, but It's well worth it. It helped me a ton. It's alot easier to eat healthy when you have the stats right in front of you.
