19.. can't gain weight!

Hi Everyone.

I started training heavily about 1.2 years ago. I got a personal trainer and went to the gym atleast 5 times a week. I gained 20 pounds in my first 8 months to land at 145 pounds.. I'm 6'1... ever since I made that goal I kept pushing to gain more muscle and I can't seem to do anything. It's really starting to frustrate me. I started a new diet... right now I'm at 350g's protein and 6,300 carbs a day. I do no cardio and for some reason never legs. "it's not something I care to focus on."

I still do atleast an hour hard workout everyday. I switch up exercises to trigger different muscles...and this month I lost 2 pounds :( ... It's starting to get real frustrating as it has been a couple months since I gained anything. I'm afraid if I do cardio on a bicycle that I will just lose more weight?

On top of my normal workout... I race motocross at a high level 3 times per week which I read is the 2nd most physically enduring sport in the world... 2nd to pro mens soccer. I just really can't understand why I can't gain anymore and wanted to get some more opinions.

I would also like advice on improving my stamina... I would do cardio but like I said... I don't want to lose weight.

No need to read any further. If you want to get big, train your legs. Do you really think your body will continue to allow your chest, back and arms to grow while they're being supported by match sticks?
Your body likes to do things with balance, train your legs if you want your upper body to grow and that means deep squating 'till you're sweating like OJ at the pearly gates

I agree. Legs are some of the biggest muscles in your body. I also read that working out legs releases testosterone and growth hormones.

The highest level of the hormones were produced as a result of squats and deadlifts.

Based on your phrasing, I'm not sure if it's your decision not to do legs, or if it's your PT's. In either case, as the above posters have said, you need to train your legs. A full-body resistance program 3 days a week starting with legs, then focusing on upper body afterwards, and using only compound movements, will most likely trigger more hypertrophic hormones than what your body's releasing at the moment, will activate more gross muscle fibres, will allow more recovery time (you grow while you're recovering) and will therefore probably serve you better than this 5 days a week of arm workouts you're doing at the moment.

If working your wholebody doesn't work, then I'd be inclined to suggest you see a doctor.

For the record, 6,300g of carbs a day is over 25,000kcal. I think something's gone wrong in communication here, unless you have a permanent IV drip filtering milkshakes into your blood 24/7. I'm guessing you meant 6,300kcal a day. If you really are consuming that much and losing weight, that is a medical concern, and something to see a doctor about.
