18yr old Competitive horseback rider

Hey. I'm almost 18, and a competitve horseback rider, I do Hunters and jumpers. I broke my femur in October, and I'm starting to get back into the swing of things with exercise. I still can't ride yet, because I need to get back into tip top physical shape before I can ride.

Heres where I need your help. I need core exercises, and upper body cardio. And some low impact stuff for my lower body. It's very important that I get into shape very soon, cause the soring show season starts in March, and I'd like to be showing by then (My orthopedic surgeon said I'll be riding by January).

Hey, I ride too, but I'm into training cutting/roping horses.

Anyways, for core strength, you can use the basics like Sit ups/Crunches, leg lifts, Weighted sit ups.

As for upper body cardio, I don't know if its possible to just have upper body cardio, but for overall cardio, running is a realy great way to build up endurance and get that heart pumping (Jumping rope too).
