17 year old in need of help to build up abs and rest of my body

Ok so I am new here and I need everyones help.

I am 17 years old, 5"11' and I weight approx 157 lbs

I have a little extra weight on my stomach and on my upper arms that i have been working hard to get rid of.

What I need is to know what the best thing for me to do to get a 6 pack and build up the rest of my body.

I exercise in the pool every other day for about 45 minutes (swimming just with my arms, then just with my legs, "bycicling", and many other exercises.


The only other equipment I have is dumbell set that goes upto 50 lbs and an exercise ball.


I want to know what to do to build up my body and how I should change my diet.

do push ups until your arms fall off, clapping push ups, diamond push ups, regular push ups, etc.

do crunches and sit ups until your stomach wants to rip out of your skin.

get some running shoes.
 
don't do exactly what slimnick said........ it starts with quality, and quantity should follow

also, what is your body type/composition... lean...fat...muscular... b/c u said you have extra weight on your stomach and upper arms...

you didnt post anything about your diet so all we can do is assume the worst, so start:
1) reading the ingredients on labels
2) intrepret the ingredients on labels along with nutritional values
3) consume protein after exercise


swimming tips:
1) swimming with just arms isn't all that great for you, it involves your entire body
2) pace yourself, ie do 100 yds in 2 minutes, then do 9 more progressively getting faster and then repeat
3) swim 1000 yards, without stopping alternating between freestyle and butterfly- start out with 25 yards freestlye, 25 butterfly then 50 of each.... and keep progressing then start to go back down on the yardage

upper arms:
1)focus on the triceps
2)forget the biceps (for the most part)
 
well what do you reccomend I do exactly?


I am big boned if thats what you wanted to know about my bodytype. I am not fat just I am a bigger build.


For my diet I drink 4-5 bottles of water each day, and eat 5 small meals a day. I eat fruits and vegetables as much as I can. As for sweets I try to only have them 1 or 2 times at the most in a week.
