Daisy,
What part of the body burns fuel? Muscle of course. What happens if you have higher muscle mass? You have a bigger engine which consumes MORE fuel. That is why having more muscle means having a higher metabolism.
And cardio? Yeah, there is some benefit, but lets take a look at athletes... the ULTIMATE cardio athletes are marathon runners. Now, some people may like looking like prison-camp survivors, but personally I don't. If just doing a bunch of cardio is that great, then why don't you see any really buff, sinewy long distance runners? Sprinters on the other hand look fantastic. They are sinewy and lean. They look like ideal male bodys in the classical sense. Guess what the biggest component of their workout is? Pushing the anaerobic threshold with short bursts of instensity and speed.
Another myth that you brought up is that obese people eat too much and need to eat LESS, not MORE. Probably more important than anything while you are trying to lose bodyfat is making sure you don't go more than 3 hours without eating. This keeps your metabolism constantly working. Probably more important when it comes to dropping bodyfat is preventing huge drops in blood sugar levels, followed by massive spikes. Common knowledge to any [good] trainer is that you must eat several small meals a day as opposed to 1-3 bigger meals.
Seems like you are aware of this though, considering your diet. Aren't you the person whose diet I critiqued on another thread? It was a pretty good diet as I remember, and you were eating low GI carbs, and frequent meals. That is pretty much the gist of what Genius is suggesting.
Also, the anger that Genius was displaying was not against Manshu, but Tenkst, who posted on this thread, whose posts no longer appear anywhere because I banned him and pruned all of his posts.
