11 miles

Today i ran about 11 miles...i ran for 1hr and 32 mins. what should my calorie count me for today? I'm 5'4" between 115-120 lbs. i felt sorta yucky today...i ran a 5k on Saturday....i feel like eatting in the evening...my appetite comes more then...is this normal?

Calorie burn would also depend on age and speed.

I'd say somewhere around 900 ish as a rough guess, but it depends on a lot of other factors.

If you're feeling crap, its a combination of things.

What are you eating before this?

Whats your hydration like before, during and after?

Plus, bear in mind that you have nearly covered a half marathon. You gave your body two days rest then pumped another 3 miles into it. Poor nutrition and hydration between would leave you feeling anything but optimal.

Congratulations by the way, very few people I know ever go further than 8-10 miles.

are you saying i should only be eating 900 calories?

i try to get a lotprotein and carbs in...but from what i've been told on here my diet isn't up to par.

Hell no, you should be eating somewhere around 1800 calories day. If you're going to be doing anymore 11 mile runs I'd pump that up to 2000 at least on the days you run.

On 900 calories a day, you will be very ill soon.

haha yeah i was going to say i don't think i could only eat 900 a day! What about on my days off...how many calories should i shoot for? and how many days off a week?

i usually do: Monday-Wed(sometimes Friday)6am- elliptical machine for 30 mins...a little bit of lifting
Tuesday-Thursday 6am run then body pump at 12:15
Saturday can either be a run or walk and sunday is usually a long run.

Are you training for something? That is a ton of working out!
I have similar intensity of training and the 2000 on long run days is about right. I also can feel like crap very quickly if #1 I'm not hydrated enough before I go out and #2 I don't drink during or what I should after that long run. For me its all about the water (I do a sports drink with simple carbs after my long runs). If I miss any of that I can feel VERY sick, very fast. My appetite is non-existant on my long run days so I do shakes and calorie dense stuff so I don't have to actually eat much. I take 1-2 days off a week and on those days I really don't change my calories very drastically. I find that if I keep up good nutrition on those days I recover much faster and can be much stronger when I get back to it the following day. I'm sure your metabolism is burning high speed round the clock. I wouldn't worry about the off day calories too much. Personally I'd shoot for 1700-1800 on regular gym days, 2000+long run days and maybe 1600 for off days.

thanks! your post was very helpful! do you sometimes feel very bloated after working out like that? or have to go #2 a lot!?

I usually find running to be very effective at moving the bowels ;)

I'm never bloated after running...watch your hydration. Plenty of small sips of water, before, during and after.
