Hey everyone!

My name's Alia and I'm new to this forum.

I have been "dieting" for years but right now, enough is enough.
I suffer from depression and during my last episode which lasted months, I packed on about 15 extra pounds in two months. In July, I was 175 pounds and by September, I was 190 pounds. The extra weight made me feel unattractive and less confident so I knew that I needed to do something about it if I wanted to work on my self-esteem. I'm 5'7" and I just remember feeling so embarrassed when I opened my first weight loss log and my BMI said that I was obese at 30.1. I never thought I'd qualify as OBESE!

Currently, I am taking Zoloft and it is helping me regulate my mood and my cravings for food. After the past month, I have lost 10 pounds by intermittent fasting. I currently practice EOD (every other day) fasting where I won't eat one day, or have like 1-2 berries with water/tea, and then the next day I skip breakfast and eat a moderate lunch and dinner. Usually on the day when I'm not fasting, I try to keep my calories under 1500.

Overall, I plan to lose over 40 pounds. My highest weight was 196 pounds (88.9 kg) and I am currently 186 (84.3 kg). My ultimate goal weight is 150, but as long as I get between 150-155 lbs (68 kg), I'll be ecstatic with those results. I haven't been 165 since November 2016, when I was dieting and doing keto.

As far as exercise, I am a full-time nanny while I save up to go back to school and live with my boyfriend. I'm constantly walking around the house with the baby and I usually get around 10,000 steps (I have a FitBit) by just dealing with him. When I play with the older children I get even more! I also have a 12-year old chihuahua that I walk with at least once a day, so I would say I'm moderately active. I don't run or do CrossFit or anything.

So anyway, if you actually read my intro, I'm really excited to start being a part of this forum. I will most likely be doing a daily diary/food log that will keep me motivated. I also have a blog that you can follow me on in my profile to keep up with my weigh-ins if you like.

Thank you for accepting me into this community! I look forward to meeting you all!

TL;DR: I have depression and gained 15 pounds in two months. I fast every other day and have lost 10 pounds in about a month. I want to lose 40 pounds to be 150 pounds.

Hey Alia! We have similar goal weight and similar challenges! Would you like to. Be weight loss pen pals? I think it would help me be more accountable. I am new to this site. Let me know!

Congrats on your 10 lb weight loss!

You are very ambitious. Fasting will increase a pace of your weight loss, but it can deplete your organism. There is nothing more stressful than depressions with a loss of strength. You should be less harsh on youself. It can lower your cortisol levels and improve weight loss too. Do some funny activities during fasting periods. Switch cortisol with adrenaline or oxytocin.
I wish you good luck.
