1:38:47

First ever half marathon ran there on Sunday and I came in at 1:38:47 which I'm absolutely delighted at. I'd set myself a goal of 1:50 initially and then I kept thinking coming in around 1:45 would be a really nice achievement but 1:38 is heavenly:) I came 169 out of 2500 which is pretty amazing too....

The weather for the race was very changable, first 2 miles were lovely and sunny, fresh breeze too. Then we had hail stones, rain, win and then for the final 2 miles some more sun:) It came at the right time too because the hardest part of the race was the 9-11 miles as you came over the final mountain so as the sun came out over Ireland's only fjord, it was a great sight.

Few more things I've learned. Make sure you eat right the night before. I had a nice amount of pasta and kept up the water intake. Woke up on Sunday, had some bread, a banana and apple. Had a hand full of jelly beans before the race for a sugar boost and went on my merry way.

It was a really great atmosphere at the start line....and I'm defiantly going to do soem more! Best of luck to everyone in their respective races!

Awesome job man! :beerchug:

Great job. You're making me jealous. I'm just hoping to finish in under two hours when I run a half later this year.

Thats a conversation we were having on the bus on the way back from the finish line. Going over to Boston to run it would be amazing but then I'd have to recover in Boston, and Boston is such a party town, well it'd get in the way of my dancing:)

That is a great finish time. Sorry but not fast enough for boston though. I believe you need to get 3:10 or less, until you are 30. Boston is no kiddy game, until you get to be 40 years old (then the ceiling is 3:20- LOL!)

NONE-the-LESS- great, GREAT finish time at 1:38.

I just had to give Boston it's due respect, for any qualifiers that may be lurking.

SO- step up your game and get it done! you can do it. You are very fast. And obviously your heart can handle the strain, and your brain is capable of the necessary tolerance.

Sweat Daily!

Boston better watch out so.....

3:10 is insane....and if you're older than 80 you get 5 hours.....I'd love to see an 80 year old do it!

Nice running Ciaran Francis Sherwin ;)
