1/2 marathon?

I am thinking about training to run a half marathon in January. I know it’s probably a bit late to get started, but I think I can do it and I think it would be good motivation to get me through the holidays. Thing is, I don’t do a whole lot of real distance running and so I would need to start training right. Does anyone have any tips on how to create a good training schedule or know of a good training schedule that you may have used yourself? I have googled it and there is a lot of different information out there so I figured I’d post here and see what everyone has to say.

Thank!

Here is one that has a 12-week program, but the beginner in this category already runs 15+ miles / week: .

I am not aware of any 3-month half marathon training programs for someone who doesn't run at least 10 miles / week already.

I have run a few 5Ks easily (and yes I am aware it's only a fraction of the 13.1 miles of a half marathon) and when I can find the time I can run 3 miles a day at least 4 days a week no problem, so I'm not out of shape or a true "novice". Mostly I do kickboxing, soccer and other cardio activities, but would like to get myself back into running more consistently and regularly. I came across the half randomly and thought I might be able to make it happen with a bit of hard work and dedication.

I want to give it a go and see how it feels. I don't have to register for it until the end of December so if it doesn't go well...then I'll look for something maybe a little bit farther off.
