Sport 0 calorie, for real?

Yesterday, I stopped by at China town to get me some grocery on the way back home from work. During that, I came across two items that intrigue me. They are pickle bamboo shoot and crushed chilli. You guys might think, there isn't anything to intrigue about. But, like i mentioned in my title, believe it or not, they both have none calorie according to nutrition facts stuck at the side of the container. I don't know if it for real or some sort of ploy to entice people who are on diet. I'm kind of skeptical especially when they both imported from china. So what do you guys make of that?

I don't know about zero calorie, but it seems believeable that both are very low calorie. Did you look to see what a serving size was? The funniest one I've seen is spray cooking oils. The serving size is a one-third second spray (WTF uses a one-third of a second spray when cooking?), and since the numbers are so low, they are permitted to round down and say 0 calories. It's ridiculous though seeing as how it's OIL that the product consists of.

Anyways, bamboo is a plant, it's gonna have some cals, likely not a whole lot. Chilis are peppers, again, not a whole lot of cals. In any event, you wouldn't be able to stomach enough of the crushed chili to throw off a diet that much, in my opinion.

bamboo is extremely fiberous...so it likely has very few calories, since fiber cannot be burned as energy.

chilis aren't very dense...hollow on the inside and a thin wall of flesh which is half water.

so, due to the origin of these foods, and the (more than likely) small serving size, they can state 0 calories.

Chili sauce is great and I use it for that reason. a teaspoon is more than enough to spice up any dish and it has 0 cals. Mustard also has I think either 0 or 5 cals.

While I believe bamboo does have calories, I think it is in the same boat as celery, in that they both take more calories to digest than you get from them, meaning eating bamboo or celery gives you negative calories.

Man thats ridiculous. It just an evil ploy to make consumer buy their product by making it looks healthy in the eyes of consumer. I mean who would use that amount anyway. The serving size of bamboo shoot which I was talking about is 30g. So its relatively small portion.

Yeah, which means you as the consumer have to be smarter than Pam.

Anyways, 30 grams of bamboo is prolly less than half a biteful. Regardless, eat it, full of fiber, good for you for sure.
