Working out everyday

Is it good for you?

I'm basically thinking about doing 5 "8 minute" exercise programs each day. Included are Stretch, Abs, Arms, Legs, and Buns. This equates to 45 minutes of exercise a day.

I did these every other day for 2 months before, and I was starting to notice real changes. I stopped doing them for about a month, and all my progress is basically gone now. I'm going to start again, and I'm wondering whether doing them everyday would be good or not?

I think you definately need a break between your workout sessions as you were before, it gives time for the muscle to recuperate, no matter how long your working them out for.

If you are doing weight training, you need to have rest days. However, you can continue to do light cardio every day. I like to break it down into 3 or 4 day schedules for weight training. Right now, I'm doing Monday, Wednesday, Friday and alternating upper and lower body each day.

My two week schedule looks like this:
M:Upper
T:Rest
W:Lower
Th:Rest
F:Upper
S:Rest
Su:Rest
M:Lower
T:Rest
W:Upper
Th:Rest
F:Lower

I have also done a four day schedule in the past where I do Upper body on Mondays and Thursdays, and Lower Body on Tuesdays and Fridays with a full rest on Wednesday. The reason I split up upper and lower is to give that muscle group time to rest. You should give each muscle group at least 48 hours of rest to see maximum results. I like both of these schedules, because they provide adequate amounts of rest, and you get the weekends off.

You can continue to do cardio throughout the week as long as it does not result in too much muscle fatigue. You need to provide enough rest for your muscles to regenerate between weight training workouts.

If you aren't making progress, you may also want to take a look at your diet. If you're trying to lose weight, you may have to reduce your calorie intake a little more, or if you're trying to gain weight/add muscle you may need to increase your calorie intake.

The number one thing is if you notice that you aren't making any progress, then something needs to change. Listen to your body, if it isn't responding the way you want it to, something needs to be changed in your routine.

Good luck, and keep up the good work!

5*8= carry the 9= yep 48

Reminds me of that cellphone commercial where the dad gives them the phone and says 5 people pick 5 friends for a total of 26.

Back on track, whatever gets you moving. Like Spiceychicken said, if you dont see results, something needs changed.

i have the same doubt but different routine

ok so basically my plan is workout according to the following schedule:
day 1 upper body (mostly arms, a little bit of chest, but no abs)
day 2 lower body
day 3 abs
day 4 upper body
day 5 lower body
day 6 abs
....
and the pattern continues...
now the general rule is that one should work out only 3-4 days a week.. however in this plan, i basically am working out each part (upper, lower and abs) only twice a week... moreover, i get recovery for one part even when working out on other parts... for eg, when i work out my lower body, i get recovery for my upper body..

so is this plan effective?

I am a skinny guy, but with quite some belly fat. I basically want to tone myself and get a beach body - not too buff and grotesque :)

I think it is good. Like 30 minutes to 1 hr a day. I stay at home and I need lots of workout.
