Another question about exercise and weight loss (my progress)

So its been just over a month, and I've lost 10lbs. Went from 230 down to 220. So its very gradual, but I think I'm doing it safetly and properly. I've personally noticed that my stomach looks a little bit more flat then it was. I've also been told by several people that I've looked like I lost some weight in my face and look a little thinner. Granted, I'm very happy about that, but is this just water weight that I lost? If thats the case, I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I lift 3 times a week, and do my cardrio 4 days a week for an hour. I believe I'm eating enough, but also not eating to much to gain weight. I still need to see a nutritionist. Am I just trying to push this too quickly? Or from personal experience do you think i'm doing okay?

1-2 pounds a week is usually considered healthy weight loss for most individuals, unless you are grossly obese, then you might be able to loose more at first. The closer you get to your healthy weight the harder it gets to loose. Beyond that we would need a lot more info to help you (age, sex, height, bady fat percentage, diet, detailed exercise routine, etc.) Check out the stickies on this site on nutrition and weight training for a lot of good general info.

Thanks. I dont' think i'm severly obese, granted I'm not ripped either. Stats are 25 Years old/ 6ft 0inches/220lbs (unknown body fat %)
I've attached a recent photo to kinda give you an idea of what I'm working with.

I know its not saying much, but I don't think i'm desperately needing to lose a lot of weight quickly. I keep pretty active.

My workout routine usually consists of 4 days of cardio via elliptical machine (2) of cardio are devoted to high intensity, so go as fast as i can for 30-45 seconds and then rest for a bit, and keep going from there. 3 days a week I list weight. Mainly free weights i'll do barbell curls, usually do 3 sets of 15. Same goes for preacher curls. I do tricep extention curls also. Same reps. I change up the weight. Nothing super heavy, but enough to make me work.

Body fat % I'm unsure about, but as far as meals go, I've been doing extremely well I think. I sit in an office from 8:30-5:30 Monday-Friday, so I was so easily distracted by running to mcdonalds for a quick meal. As for the last month, I've been prepping my own meals. Breakfast usually consist of 2-3 scrambled egg whites with a big of shredded cheddar cheese, a piece of whole grain wheat toast with a little bit of peanut butter, a big glass of water, and maybe a cup of oatmeal. Snacks are usually involving a bowl of grapes with apple slices and maybe a few almonds. Lunch consists usually of grilled chicken breast, usually about 5-8 oz, 3-4 leaves of romaine lettuce, sliced up carrots or some brocolli, and usually low cal dressing (balsamic, etc.) Another small snack between the lunch and dinner, which is usually some mixed berries and yogurt. Dinner is usually some kind of baked chicken, some kind of vegetables (carrots brocolli cauliflower) or asparagus or even baked sweet potato chips seasoned with garlic and cinnamon, nothing crazy, but definitely enough to fill me up to a comfortable level. I've cut out many desserts and sweets. No soda what so ever. If i have a craving for something sweet, I might pop out a 100 calorie pack snack, and thats only about 1-2 times a week. Don't drink much like I used to.

I could probably stand to do more lifting, but trying to get to a comfortable level.

Any other suggestions?

I would change up the cardio. do a variety of stuff...not just elliptical. if you can run, run. if you can cycle, cycle. swimming is good too.

I'll see what else I can do. My gym doesn't have a pool unfortunately. I like to bike and rollerblade in the summer, but since I'm in Michigan, I can't do that right now lol. The stationary bikes just bore the hell outta me. I thought about taking a kettlebell class. I guess I'll try pretty much anything.

Thanks again

I think you are feeling frustration also...
Try cardio with some different stuff.. or you should try swimming for a short period of time..
