Karky's high protein adventure

I realize that protein is very controversial, so please don't make this thread into a heated debate, if you want that, make a new thread somewhere and I'm sure a lot of people will join in. That doesn't mean you can't discuss some, but no bickering.

So I'm usually getting about 200g of protein per day, I'm probably around 210lbs or something, I dunno. so I'm pretty close to the 1g/lb thingy.

I think I'm gonna try to get a minimum of 300g from now on, though. I'll be getting a lot through protein shakes, and I'm gonna have to revise some of my "standard" meals to exchange some carbs and fat for protein.

I have pretty detailed logs of my strength progress over the years so I'll be able to compare strength progress from my medium and high protein time periods. Size gain logs are a bit less detailed, though, which sucks since it's mostly size I want to see if I can gain more of with this.

I just figure that instead of reading endless discussion and controversy about high protein in the diet I'm just gonna try it and see if it works for me.

How much protein do you guys consume each day? (for those of you who know) and have you noticed a difference from when you ate low to when you ate high protein?

Hey mate im pretty new to this stuff.

How do you calculate the amount of protein you get from a steak or a few egg whites for example? Id like to work out how much im getting per meal/day.

When training, I generally tried to get about 1.3g/lb of lean mass. Some people (especially beginners) try to go 1.5 per lb...and it's funny when they are 200lbs but maybe 160 lean...taking in 300g per day.

Good luck in your venture though man.

I hit 275-300g of protein per day.

That never changes whether I am bulking or cutting or even maintaining.

Yeah im like LV. Mine pretty much stays constant and about 250g a day. I weight bout 235lb. When i cut it will stay almost always at that 250 but bulking it might fluctuate 20-30g higher due to just eating more.

I'm right around the 130 lb mark and take in anywhere from 110-140g per day, depending on what I eat mostly. Other than lean protein meals I only drink whey protein, and sometimes a ready-to-drink protein shake if I'm on the go. I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately. Can't be any harm in adding more protein...

I usually get 1+ per lb bodyweight and when I cut carbs, almost 2. I think I should add more fat when I do high protien but not sure.

What's your intake of the other macros Karky?

Advice-google it.
You can easily google protein per ounce of beef. Or go to fitday.com and you can get an idea of protein content per item. Or better yet, look on your nutritional labels on your food.

Egg whites carry about 3.5 grams of protein. The whole egg can vary between 6-8 grams of protein depending on how large the egg is. How much protein you're getting in your steak depends on how many ounces your steak is.
