New to this forum

My name is Dave, I'm 28 live in Comstock Park, MI (grand rapids).
I have 3 kids (6 F, 4 F, 1 1/2 M), married for the last 6 1/2 years, 2 dogs and I was born with a bad heart.

At 16mo old I had open heart surgery (Transposition of the Great Arteries) and during the surgery my left lung was fused together and only works maybe 15-20%

My hobbies include cars.. racing and building, computers, cell phones etc.

I joined this forum to try and find some ways that I myself can get my body and health back on par. I am 5' 7" weight 165lbs and would like to loose my stomach and maybe get in better shape (for me and my family).

Last Nov right before Thanksgiving I decided that it was time to lose the weight. I was at 185lbs was wearing a 36/30 pant for the last 8 years and about to move to a 38/30 and I needed to act fast. I started myself on my own homemade diet..

no fast food
no pizza
smaller portions
cheese, water, veggies, chicken, rice was alot of what I ate.
not a soda drinker
lunches at work were turkey sandwich on wheat bread and mustard.. PLAIN

In late Jan I had gotten down to 149lbs and felt AMAZING.. I am into a size 32/30 pant, can fit a mens medium shirt (no more need for L-XL) and I had more energy..

One morning on the way to work I stopped at MCD's and had a breakfast burrito (I was SO HUNGRY). well 1 burrito lead to I can eat out in moderation etc and now here I am in April back to 165lbs..

I want to get back to a lower weight, thin the midsection and maybe even cut up a bit.

What I hope to gain from this forum is:
a new better way of eating, better for me, better tasting foods.
an exercise plan that I can do with my bad heart. (minimal weights, cardio, etc)
support
friends and well... fun

THX for reading.. I look forward to making new friends and finding the better me.

Welcome and good luck! What limits, if any, does your physician place on you? You lost the weight before; you can do it again. Think life change, rather than diet.
