New Bench Press

Hay,

Im looking to get some Bench press equipment but im not sure on which type/types would be worth getting. If anyone can recommend a Bench Press machine that they have used before that would be sweet as...Or if there all the same just let me know.

Its my first time getting one of these also so if anyone has any links to some good bench press routines that would also be heaps good.

Cheers

First off, i hope you working the rest of your body apart from just your chest/tri's.

What do you mean 'bench press machine' ?

Id advise you to get (if possible) : A bench, set of Dumbells, a Barbell, with plenty of weights. And a pullup bar if possible.

Yes, Ive already got a few barbells, ive got a chin up bar and just need a bench now but was wondering if there's a certain type...

Yer mate im working all round my body. Also do you have any routines i can try out regarding the chinup bar, dumbbells and bench (if i can get my hands on one)??

Basic workouts want to include:

Squats, Deadlifts, Rows, Bench Press, Military Press.

And maybe some isolation such as...curls, tricep extensions, calf raises.

You could do a Full Body workout, OR a split workout.

And here goes my advice, from personal experience... If You are serious about working out, don't go buy some cheap piece of trash bench. One of these don't last you very long and you might seriously hurt yourself.

If possible, go for a bench that allows you a lot of weight progression and that is set in two pieces: weight rack and bench. With that, you can pretty much do anything, from squats to military presses to bench press.

I see you are from Australia so I don't know what brands you can get there. I'm posting this links so that you might have an idea of what to look for. This is what I have at home and I'm pretty happy with it...

Cheers!

Okay cheers guys i will have a look around..

Also is there anyplace where i can get a routine written up for free?
like my full body workout? I have a few parts that i do not want to train though.

Regarding the FBW, either you train the 4 main body parts or it isn't a FBW....

To get a full body workout, you have to choose 1 compound exercise for:
- Chest (chest press, etc...)
- Legs (squats, etc...)
- Shoulders (military presses, etc...)
- Back (barbell bent-over rows, etc)

I recently lost my main driver, so I don't have any links. But check this forum (mainly the stickies), there's a lot of stuff here.

What are your goals?

Main goals are to get quite cut and a decent size...I mean im motivated to go the full way to get to my goals. But sometimes it's hard to keep on going with it...

Ok, wait for some tips from someone who knows more about this than me. I'm guessing you want to get big while being ripped. That's not easy and I think most important of all is your nutrition. That's where you hard work is going to be.

What is usually done, and IMO it's easier, it's to bulk up and then cut. That means that during your bulking phase you'll get muscular mass AND fat mass.

Keep in mind though that it's going to take A LOT of discipline. Think about it before spending a lot of money in a bench, rack, weights... are you willing for years of hard work and controlling your nutrition?

Yes, Ive read alot about this so if anyone has any long-term experience in this please share with me.
Nutrition is really not a problem with me...
I can go with whatever diet/ eating routine im put on so that's something good about me i spose.

But yes Ive nearly got all the equipment anyway i just need to get a bench press now...And i lack the knowledge of all this so as said above i might wait till a person with more experience in this comes along..As im half cut...you could call it? at the moment but not big if your know what i mean so hopefully this provides a little more info and if you need to ask any more questions please do so.

Cheers

Would a bed be ok to do bench press but with dumbells? Im going to buy some dumbells for home use and this means I can buy protein shake instead of buying gym memberships etc.

You would move quite a bit if you where done that on a bed wouldn't you....?
Unless you have a hard bed...In that case go for your life!

Loke Tom said, you can go for a FBW or a Split routine. Once you set that up, it's all a matter of knowing what to eat and when to eat it. You can go to the nutrition section on this forum for that. I don't know who's the person who can best help you on this but Chillen has a lot of posts on pretty much what you want.

Ahk well cheers then. Now i just have to workout how im going to setup my split routine...
