started running

but i have no idea what iam doing; at the beginning is probably the best to run slowly as possible; but now what -> how/ when should i run faster? or should i increase the distance but not the speed? im running on a gravel track (3km in 1 direction); the track is cca 3% slope and in 1st direction is downhill but in back direction it is uphill -> painful legs from ankles up
tnx in advance

What is your overall running goal? Do you want to be a distance runner or a sprinter?

I personally prefer to run uphill first and then downhill if there's an increase in incline because I have more energy at the beginning and it feels like a reward when I run downhill :D

First build your foundation. Work on distance. Do not increase your weekly milage more than 3% of your previous week's miles. Keep your pace easy. By your 6th week of running you can start incorporating intervals and tempo runs to work on speed.
What are your running goals? Have you checked for local running groups?
I recommend until you get a good running base you avoid hills. Beginners are prone to shin splints and Achilles problems.
Good luck! Run is worth the rewards! :)

When I first started running back in high school, my legs would get horribly sore. But stick with it, and the pain will eventually go away. It is good to not go too fast or too far at first. I think if you go about two miles a day at first at a speed that's comfortable to you, you will build a good foundation from which you can increase speed or distance.

Before thinking of speed, I think you should develop endurance first. Add a bit more distance every time you run till you can do so for 45 minutes. Then you can work on your speed. Third, you can vary the type of terrain you run on. Do that last as that would call for your endurance.
