Locker Room Talk Section

This has probably been proposed before, maybe in a joking way, but why not seriously consider it?....

There have been a lot of arguments lately about obscenity, locker room talk etc and where the line is when posting on this forum. Some are offended by it, some enjoy it and see it as a way of blowing off steam.

Why not add a "Locker Room Talk" section to the forum? Crude, brash language would be expected and tolerated here and only here. You could choose to go there if you wanted, or chose not to. You could even have a disclaimer when you clicked on it.

Any thoughts?

A dream idea +rep for Goochy :D

I'm a bit on the fence here. First of all, I think it depends how heavily the forum will be moderated (since change in the level of moderation has been suggested). I think we should be able to joke around a bit. An example would be the Tom, Kraken and Karky joking circle, if we can't do things like that it would be fine to have a section where that sort of stuff is allowed. However, I wouldn't want a section that would basically only be for discriminating against certain groups. No matter how many disclaimers there are before going in there people can still go in there and might want to leave the forum if they see people here having outrageous views of certain groups.

Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily say "anything goes" as in bigotry, threats etc, but good ol' talking shiat kind of stuff would be there

no discrimination against anyone. I'm not about that at all. I'm more about saying keep it friendly. Basically a place to bag on each other all day long.
Sharing laughs, insults, etc.

I think any racially charged or bashing any group of people should not be tolerated.

Except maybe liberals. LOL
edit = and Norwegians :D

I suspect there a lot of kids / pre-teens that lurk or even post on this site.

That said, I'd think so long as the posts are relatively ' PG rated ' - i.e aren't deemed to be x-rated or obscene in any ( explicit, concealed or disguised ) way - and avoid any discrimination against individual sexual preferences, race, or religion .......it may be worth a try.

Obviously, unequivocally vulgar and offensive material should be disallowed on the forum - regardless of which ever sub forum it's found in.

maybe a hidden board that requires x number of posts to view or perhaps even a password / invite only forum.

That would solve the lurker problem.

Therein lies the point IMO....in theory, lurking in and of itself shouldn't represent a ' problem ' to any forum.

In my view, the access to all areas of a forum should be completely unrestricted.

Such that, the content and dialog of members within a forum is open and transparent for all members / lurkers - children, pre-teens, teens and adults alike - to see and, accordingly, should be considered members of equal status ( i.e where passwords or post counts might make some members more equal than others ;) )
