Marko's is coming today.

I am working on CCR's post as well (he has gotten fantastic support by various members in his thread in the members lounge! Great response members! I know he appreciates it!)

Good morning everyone!

I got the green light to weight train today from my doc. My shoulder feels better, and I am ready to get after it!

Best wishes to all!

Skip the book idea Chillen, you should be a rapper.

Notorious C.H.I.L.L.

He could do that too with all his awesome rhyming...

I remember when someone asked if eating close to bedtime was alright and Chillen responded with something like.

"don't worry about eating at night, if you stay within your macro and calorie goals you will be alright.

It was probably a lot better than that, but I remember liking it... haha.

Check this one:

I was going through the COL (again finding specific posts for links), and found this one, lol:

People STOP looking for easy solutions....in PILLS........there ISNT ONE.

I made these posts in some threads today:

There is NO SUCH THING as an over-the-counter fat burner........they dont exist. Stop looking for an easy way out---there isnt one.

The FAT BURNER:

Correct Diet + Exercise

The ULTIMATE FAT BURNER:

Adjustments and/or Corrections in DIET on bodily CHANGES and FEEDBACK + Adjustments and/or Corrections in Training + Adaptive PATIENCE

Fat didnt accumulate over night and THUS will not come off overnight and this FACT results in: YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT IT.......Therefore......

You have operate IN:

THE ULTIMATE FAT BURNER ZONE (as described above)

A new VERSION of Chillen's WASHER AND DRYER:

May you never look at a WASHER and DRYER the same: :)

(This symbolizes path ways in attempting to solve an addiction/problem)

WASH AND DRY (by Chillen)
===============================================
You can throw an addiction in the WASHER: (The BRAIN)
===============================================

Let it Spin and Agitate: (Brain Storming Ideas to Solve it)

Spin it Dry: (Picking an Idea in an Attempt to Solve it to see if it will work)

Rinse (Select idea? Yes?, No?) (Yes, back to spin, then Dryer)

Repeat Cycle
(If No, start over to find solution)

============================
Dryer: (Solution Pathway Used)
============================

Throw it in the dryer along with a dryer sheet to make it smell better (Your on the right path, and looking and feeling good--SHAPEN' AND BAKEN' BABY!)

Open DRYER Door......Addiction solved.

If you fall off path and get dirty AGAIN.......WASH AND DRY.
==================================================

Again, this symbolizes path ways in attempting to solve an addiction, but in the END of things.....

It is about FLAT STOPPING IT.

Its just that the pathways for some.....are different than others to reach that point........however.......

The result is the same for the one that accomplishes it......

FLAT STOPPING IT........

May you have to ONLY WASH AND DRY ONCE------------------> :)

Best wishes to all of you!

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Guys,

I wrote this all in one sitting. In a perfect world I'd review it tomorrow, refine it, re-work it....get frustrated, find clarity, get frustrated and finally resolve myself to just putting it out there....but instead, here it is raw:

His divine Chillen-ness (HDC) has requested and offered me the honor of contributing to the COL…and so, submitted for your entertainment and potential enlightenment I submit to you my offering of insight, wisdom and thoughts for the day.

First-off, I don’t like to use fancy words, express myself in an ornate & sophisticated manner or in any way try to lend credibility to my writings by pumping them up with a bunch of pseudo-intellectual text. Albeit impressive, I’d rather the reader understand and think about what I’m saying…rather then try to interpret and spend time encoding it. I want you in my head with me….but not between the hours of 11pm-6am, unless you wanna see a lot of naked woman. :D

So what can we talk about? I think we’ve pounded the fitness & motivation thing pretty hard lately….so I’d like to change it up and come at things with an entirely different approach.

Let me start at the beginning. I’m an insulation contractor, we insulate residential homes. Over the last many years I’ve built things up to where I have many A/C companies call in, schedule jobs and then my crews install the jobs. I still get customers calling in from yellow-pages, but I handle those calls by quoting prices over the phone and not going out to each home to give estimates….this whole process has freed me up considerably. Then I got some help with answering the phones and running the company. I still retain financial control and do the books, but I have many hours of the day to bike, swim, workout and meet friends for lunch…or just take the car out for a drive. All this while making a great living. It’s a great lifestyle and one that I both love & appreciate.

Moving on. At my kids school there are many fathers that I’ve come to know….many of them are far more wealthy then me, but few of them have the freedom I have. These guys are lawyers, surgeons, doctors, business executives….they work long hours and sometimes tease me about the free time I have.

Okay, I have to apologize….on the surface it may appear that I’m just tooting my own horn about how great I’ve built my business, etc….but honestly, that’s not the point. It was having this freedom that gave me time to reflect on something and really bring a new focus to reality. Seriously…and let me explain.

In having this freedom I almost felt like I was above the daily grind, indeed I was….or at least I had enough freedom where it felt that way. This is where and how I sorta felt like I had lifted enough weight off where I could fly above it all and get a good look at what I call The Grand Scheme of Things. But wtf is that?

Well, we spend our earliest years developing enough skills that we can start learning. I see this in my youngest children in Kindergarten. Then we move on to learning, then we get a job and work our entire lives until we pretty much can’t work anymore….then we run-out the clock and die. Think about it…..do we work to live, or do we live to work???? Sure, we get some time off, but with all in our lives do we really have time beyond that….and if we do, what exactly are we supposed to do with that time?

Have you ever heard the term “suspend disbelief”?. It’s generally applied to watching cartoons. You know it’s not real, but you suspend disbelief and engage what you see as reality. You know it’s a cartoon, but you accept the drawing of Tom the cat as a cat. So there’s that term; suspend disbelief.

What I notice is that every day we rise, do our routine and go about life in an ordinary manner. Have you ever gotten in your car to drive somewhere routine and then suddenly you’re there? We’ve all experienced this and heard this example. Has it ever occurred to you that the greater majority of your life is spent in this similar routine trance? You don’t think so…but let me ask you this: what made today significantly different then, say….14 days ago?

That’s the thing…we spend so much time sleeping, eating, working, running errands and doing life…that we call it life and just accept it as such. We don’t even think to question it…there is nothing to question; it’s just “life”….right?

Let me share a saying I made up: the most amazing quality of mankind is their ability to take things for granted. What does that mean to you? Ask yourself.

In the time it took you to read that last paragraph….you’ve moved. Stop and think about it….you’re sitting in a chair just reading this, right? No. You’re on a planet that rotates about it’s axis every 24 hours, given the Earth’s circumference we’re moving at just over 1,000 miles per hour. Is that right? No. The Earth is rotating about the sun…so along with the plant spinning at a rate faster then the speed of sound, we’re also hurling around the sun at ten’s of thousands of miles per hour. But ya don’t feel it. You’re gonna go get up, walk to the kitchen to get some water and everything feels stationary….yet your freakin’ flyin’ at crazy speed. Want more, account for the universe expanding…the whole concept is as elaborate as per se, time itself. Best thing to do; DON’T THINK ABOUT IT. Suspend disbelief, accept your perceived reality as stationary and continue with your way of life.

Where else are you doing this? How about death…..it’s inevitable….yet we live our lives each and every day without factoring this (hopefully) distant event. We know it’ll happen, but it’s another Suspension of Disbelief.

Hey man; you’re gonna die. In some 300 years there’ll likely be nothing of you left…the house you built or lived in will be gone, your car will be long rusted in a garbage dump, your clothes long decomposed and unless you’re a famous actor or did something very substantial, you too will be lost to time as the millions before us have been…like dust in the wind. (Cue the Kansas soundtrack). Sure, you may have some great-great grandkids..but you’ll never meet them and your picture really won’t be more significant than a picture of anyone else.

What are you doing today? Washing a car, working at a job, building a fence that’ll eventually decay, reading a book that you’ll only have a vague recollection of many years from now. What about when you were in 3rd grade, in your 7th week, on Tuesday…..can you recall that day? What about any other day? Okay…how about when you were 14 years old, how many days can you recall? So at any given moment what do we really have?....a whole bunch of vague recollections of our past, what we’re doing at the moment and what we can anticipate in the future.

So what is the point? The point is what you make of it. Strive not to suspend disbelief. You won’t remember each day more because you strive to make it different, but take the time to be aware that this is your time, and this time is limited…even though you can’t see it, there is a clock ticking away and our time in this reality is a finite and terminal. The world around us is both horrible and beautiful all at the same time…it’s up to you to make the most of it.

Don’t be content to think you always have tomorrow…but don’t make the mistake of bearing the burden that you have to make the most of every day. There is a balance and the idea is to make the most of it. Inevitably we all need to work to pay for things in life, we also have to eat, sleep and unfortunately devote a majority of our time in sustaining our being able to live…but beyond that lays the opportunity to make the most of what interest you. You’re life is all you have…it’s everything there is and everything you will ever have.

Ask yourself what you want to achieve, what your goals are and what you’d like to accomplish….do it regularly, do it often. Take the time to pull yourself above the daily grind and gather a perspective of what your life is all about and what you’re doing with it. More then we realize, we’re a product of our experience and surroundings…and like creatures of habit we go about our lives thinking each day is unique and days are endless….when it’s quite the opposite.

What I find is that life is like a giant band of experiences to tune into….like the dial on a radio, you can tune-in and find all sorts of stuff. I say, do what you interest you, do what makes you happy….but always remember to take the time to pull yourself up & away from it all and take-in a grand perspective of things. I think the idea is that, in the end, if someone offered you a way to go back in time and do it all over again, BUT give-up your experiences….you’d say “No thanks, I did it right, I made the most of it and I don’t think I could do better”…then you’re in good shape. Strive for that. Take nothing for granted, cherish every moment…and in realizing it won’t last forever, enjoy it even more. Half of you came from a sperm…and that sperm beat-out about 1-million other sperm. Don’t waste that effort, prove to yourself that within you is that one-in-one-million determined energy.

When I’m out mountain biking in the green hills, my heart pumping away, music in my ears and wind on my face….there are times when I’ll stop and feel the energy of life around me. You can feel it around you and you’re part of it. This is your time….be aware of it, feel it, thrive in it…be it.

- Steve

Jackie....important: don't forget to stretch before AND after ROCKIN'! :D

yeah thanks lmao

Truthfully, this is one of the quotes I had saved in OneNote, and thought of you. Your personal environment and monetary situation is different then some, and likewise your availability with fitness equipment is limited, and this can be a rather unique test on someone's will to achieve a level of fitness they desire. It most "certainly" can still be done, but creativity plays a large role in the overal equation. As your friend its important to me that you are able to stay on your fitness quest (it always has been), but more importantly that you are able to "try" to stabalize your environment to achieve your fitness dreams. Most importantly, however, its that you are happy and content with yourself.

Stay true to yourself and never put your personal needs on the shelf.

I miss you posting to your log :(

Spider and the Fly:

What can the Spider teach us?

Lets see:

The Spider and the Fly

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the Spider to the Fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!"
Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, " Dear friend what can I do,
To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?
I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;
I'm sure you're very welcome -- will you please to take a slice?"
"Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "kind Sir, that cannot be,
I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!"

"Sweet creature!" said the Spider, "you're witty and you're wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!
I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,
If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."
"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you 're pleased to say,
And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.
Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
"Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple -- there's a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!"

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,
Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;
With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,
Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue --
Thinking only of her crested head -- poor foolish thing! At last,
Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.
He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,
Within his little parlour -- but she ne'er came out again!

And now dear little children, who may this story read,
To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:
Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,
And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

(by Mary Howitt 1821)

The most important thing is that you are happy and content with life. If you wish you could use the COL as the place for your posts, or you can continue your previous log. Either way, I will be there to support you as much as I possibly can.

I want to remind you. If anything, I mean anything is bothering you, young lady, post it here. Get it off your chest. And, between me and the others that view the COL, we will try to assist all we possibly can.

I would love to see you develop a schedule of time to post to your log more regularly. Finding a happy compromise of some sort.

How is your current training? Have you been training? Have you made any progress? I see that you said you have 4 days off. How did this come about?

As always I wish you the best Jackie.

Oh.......I have to put a smile on your face this morning....I am all wired....tonight...lol.....(cardio)

I am all WIRED because I FIRED being TIRED and the heart of persistance was HIRED and adversity was EXPIRED and replaced with being ASPIRED!

As probably would guessed, I am very prone in developing and creating programs for employees that are simple and sometimes very complex with other franchises in the local area. This has brought many benefits.

This is a rather simple one, that is about to make a family overseas very happy. :)

At one of our hotel franchises, we have maintenance man that has been employed for about 4 years. His name is: Safet. He is a hard and dependable worker and works nearly 7 days per week. He is from Switzerland. And, he has never been back to see his family (his responsibilities here in the US and out of pocket expense and residual income doesnt allow enough excess to permit him to take a vacation there).

Well, Chillen got to thinking (oh, boy, look the hell out, he, he). In side the hotel he works for is a lounge called "Duffy's", and it gets a lot of customer traffic, and has several candy machines, pop, etc, inside that have been doing fairly well in sales.

I got an idea to put in 4 "nut" machines (Walnuts, Almonds, Peanuts, and Cashews) within Duffy's Lounge, and the proceeds from the sales would go to helping my maintenance friend to see his family over seas. At the time I really didnt think it was going to produce alot of money but would contribute. Each serving of the "nut" machine costs .25 cents.

And I named it this: SAFET'S NUTS (Actual display poster made in Publisher, the quality has been lowered so bare this in mind)

Untitled-2.jpg

Well, after 3 months, we were able to gather in over 2,000 dollars from sales and other customer dontations. The response was overwhelming. He leaves for Switzerland this week, and couldnt be any happier!

I spent this evening helping him pack and get ready for the trip. He is going to be gone two weeks. And, one benefit of some of the programs I develop is that another---employee from a completely different franchise business (a major food service chain) that does Maintenance, has already been trained, is taking his place....while he is gone.

I thought I would share this. I couldnt be any happier for him!

Within my employment, I do multiple business arrangements for a term I call "Mutual Incentive Service" where other franchise businesses share their products and services for FREE. Yes, you got that correct. FREE. In turn, employees obtain many employment benefits (that they would not otherwise have). In addition, this "extends" the products and services my employer provides......

I will explain this later, and give alot of postive stories.......THIS ROCKS!

THIS ROCKS!

BSL thats great insight.

so many people make work there life. Not me sir, I have 3 young boys, my passion is the outdoors, my health is my priority. Work is the means to an end.

I should print that post out and put it up on the board in the kitchen.

Wow, that was awesome! I'm going to show that to my wife too.

I feel like a jerk because I didn't know you had posted that. The family is going through a little bit of a tough time right now....but not as rough as some others on the forum have it right now. My wife's job got relocated and she has to be away almost 50% of the time until we get our house sold. When she's here I'm not on as much so we can spend time together.

Again thank you

Thanks guys...

Honestly, I find myself struggling to put my thoughts & feelings into words. Some of it seems so ridiculously abstract, and my examples are so simple & concrete...the gap is hard to close. I hope it made some sense or at least tickled some thought ideas.

Thank you for your post, BSL. It was just wonderfully simple, direct, and to the point. It was a refreshing perspective. Thank you.

I have to work 11p to 7a tonight, I was just told this. LOL. Mind and body isnt prepared, but I have to adjust and ROCK ON! Off to do cardio real quick. See ya guys later tonight.........stay tough and ROCK ON!

Phate I will be posting to your journal tonight. Its going to be my first post........

Since we were poking fun in the steroids thread, I posted this recently:

Since we established I am high, it is Crack?

Is Chillen high on Crack? Let's see, he, he. :)

Chillen notices a member giving fitness some SLACK and readies a post ATTACK to keep the member on TRACK knowing it will give Derwyddon a HEART ATTACK.

Without any SLACK, Chillen makes a post in BLACK with a motivational SMACK and the regular members thinks he's a QUACK on CRACK when in FACT Chillen has a PAC in keeping fitness members on TRACK.

Chillen eats perceptions of QUACK for a SNACK and this eliminates the smelly CRACK.

Is Chillen high on CRACK? NO.

Thanks Chillen, yes i do have a problem, the thing that is letting my training/diet down the most is alchol, when i get back from the pub after drinking i do think about diet and stuff but i just dont care at the time if you get me and i just usually make a sandwich and eat it which i know is going over my base line. I drank way 2 much last night, i dont ususally, i never get pissed or anything, and now i feel bad, my own fault i know, im not gonna go out tonight, and i dont drink at home, so i wont be drinking. I love going out friday and satarday nights, i cant stop doing that or i will go crazy and i wont see anyone, i might start drinking squash down there, any suggestions??

Well, it seems to me if it's a ' one- off ' - i.e " i dont ususally " - it's nothing to overly obsess about.

Don't sweat it IMO.

As as far as having a few drinks with friends on the weekend once in awhile, again, there is nothing wrong with moderate alcohol consumption - moderate ! :beerchug:.

Simply plan for it ( and the snack when you get home from the pub ;) ) ahead of time and include it in your calorie calculations / expectations for the week.

If you do hit a bump in the road, and take in some significant ' unexpected ' calories, you may simply want to compensate by trying to burn off some extra calories over the week somehow. It's no big deal IMO.

i never get pissed or anything, and now i feel bad, my own fault i know, im not gonna go out tonight, and i dont drink at home, so i wont be drinking.

I wouldn't if it were me ( but that's jut me ). Don't worry...' be happy ' !:)

I would simply just laugh it off as a minor bump in the road ....and move on.

To expect that you will never ' fall of the wagon ' once in a while is an unrealistic expectation IMO. The idea is to have a very high batting average in this game of dieting and fitness....not a perfect one. ;)

I love going out friday and satarday nights, i cant stop doing that or i will go crazy and i wont see anyone, i might start drinking squash down there, any suggestions??

You shouldn't have too.

Granted, it is very important to maintain a healthy diet and keep fit by training , but there is much much more to life than simply having to train at all costs training and obsessing about diet, etc. etc.

So, you simply have to work a plan in which you can meet your diet and training goals and still be able to ' party ' with your friends on the weekends.
