How to best work abs

Ok so what is good for making your abs better...at the moment i do like 2 sets of 40 with 5 kg on my chest ? i dont want definition i want them bigger..abs aint like other parts of the body tho are they and take high reps only ? i do abs 3 times a week on training days....its the only thing i do more then once
 
no reason to do that high reps for the abs. If you want them to grow, do the typical hyp rep range of 8-12 reps.
 
that's more hip flexors than abs. However, the hip flexor will be active in pretty much all ab exercises.
One thing you can do with leg raises is to do them "propperly", this means keep the back flat and on the floor. Use your abs to eliminate the arch in your back, you will feel it a lot more in your abs.
 
so i should get a 20 kg plate hold on my chest and do as many as i can...i cant get any heavier then that so if its to easy what els can i use to make it harder

I can do 3 sets of 12 with 50 lbs on my chest. I'm ready to move it up to 55. I'm really surpried how much strength my abs have gained. Back when I started I could barely do 12 without weights. Best thing I've gained though is a strong lower back. I used to have all kinds of back pain (I'm only 20 now) but ever since then it's all but gone. I don't really have any definiton yet, but I think they are getting bigger.

You have to be careful starting out though, there was a couple times when I over did it and my back really gave out.
