Cardio Fanatics HELP!

Right now I do 5 days of cardio and its usually 5 on the machine if im lucky one of those days will be HIIT outside running. I do 30 minutes and I push my self not all out but not easy I probably maintain around 150 heart rate.

In December I have an Alumni meet coming up for swimming. I want to be ready would it be ok if I were to instead do 3-4 days of swimming around an hr and then 3 days of cardio on the machine..What I would really like is 3 days of HIIT with 3-4 days of swimming for an hr. Would this be equivalent to what I was doing? more? less?

With swimming your max hr decreases, I think to 60% of whatever your max was. So basically, if you've been training at 150 bpm, you should go with somewhere around 100-120 bpm, I think.

I don't have my book in front of me. I will look it up later tonight to see. I forgot the exact details.

I got my resting heart rate tested about a week ago and it was 51, Do you think If I were to lower my heart rate to 100-120 instead of the 150 this would affect my resting heart rate?

Can't I change my heart rate during swimming so that it is 150? I could try to keep a pretty intense pace.
