New power clean record

I've been doing fullbodies about a month or so now n have only been doing cleans of about 20-25kg but today I decided to try my hand at some olympic lifts. I had a go with about 30kg and found it okay so i loaded my bar with everything ive got (40kg) and pumped out 5 reps and I'm feeling pretty good. My next goal is 50kg. Is 40 good for a months work?

depends, we have no idea how big you are, how much your other lifts are, etc.. How is your technique? have you had someone who knows their stuff look at it?

I'm about 200lb not sure my max for any lifts really because i only have 40kg should be getting more soon though

Are you more motivated by positive or negative reinforcement?

If its the former: Well Done! Keep up the good work! More PRs are sure to come!

If its the latter: No, that's weak. You aren't respectable til you are at least cleaning your bodyweight.

What I'm getting at is not to let other people's opinions dictate your success. If you worked hard and lifted more than you have ever lifted before, how can that not be at the very least a good start?

Im 15 an about 5'11" cheers for both maverickbu i know what you mean about the body weight thing but i don't see that happening after a month to be fair.

No no no, you missed the point. I was just saying whatever is necessary to keep you motivated to achieve YOUR goals. Not someone else's. Some people do well off encouragement, some do well with a kick in the ass.

Oh right. I see, yeah I personally don't like being told I'm doing something well, if I know I'm not.
