Dhea

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)

This is a question from a guy I work with.

He said he wants to try something (he allready takes this stuff) I guess he wants to increase the dosage.

Does anyone know the MAX safe amount you can take? Also I could use any knowledge you have on the stuff, I dont know much about it.

over at I typed in DHEA supplementation men and 5 pages of abstracts came up.

I've used DHEA before up to 125mg daily. However, 50 mg is usually the upper recommended dosage.

I also forgot to add that he is over 55. So he produces less DHEA correct (so he needs more)? I also read that there have been no reports of overdose, so would it be safe to bulk up on it for short periods of time? The only thing could find said that large doses can be harmful if taken for a long period of time.

Thanks for the link though, I'll check that out when I'm done reviewing mine.

Ok let me run some thing I found by you guys...

High dosages of DHEA (more than 10mg) can cause heart palpitations and irregular beats.

Mild things (IMO) Acne, hair loss, increased sweat oder, itchy scalp.

No deaths as a result of oral DHEA.

There seems to be a lot of benifits from it though, as far as muscle strength, reverse bone loss, blah blah blah

Evo - did you feel angry/mood swings anything like that when you took that high amount? I read some things about 18 year olds that took that amount and were fine - no symptoms. Then I read some stuff about guys over 40 that had some problems.

lol I did read a article about a 42 yr old male that blamed DHEA for ruining his life. He was taking high dosages, and it increased his sex drive, and he cheated on his wife. So the reason for his wife leaving him was DHEA? He reccommended married men not to take DHEA LOL (funny too me, I guess :D )

No. I didn't have any mood swings. I didn't suffer from aggression issues. Has your friend thought about TRT or HRT?

Hmmmm...it boggles my mind why people refuse to take responsibility for their actions and blame it on outside sources.

I'm gonna ask him about that today.

I dont know much about it. Doctor has to give that too you right? HRT is for wemon only? no?

HRT - hormone replacement therapy. men and women BOTH have hormones.

TRT - testoserone replacement therapy - usually just for men

Ok, just cant find anything that mentions male usage. TRT seems similar to DHEA.
