Shellsy's way!

Ok So I've been so up and down it's not even funny anymore! I've fallen into a bad depression over it the past month. I read so much on all the forums I let it over whelm me, I become so strict that I crash, I set a schedule that I can never attain cause life happens, and worse of all I hate the weight room at the gym cause ppl scare me!

My new way:
Well I discovered on my tv they have FOR FREE a personal trainer section with awesome workout videos for Full body, upper, lower, pilates, cardio -you name it they got it and they add new ones here and there. So now no need to worry that I missed a gym class either. I did my first work out Tues. for full body- HOLY CRAP  I'm sore!!! mainly in my lower body. So my plan is EVERYDAY be active whether it's a walk, a hike, a video, a gym class - always get my heart rate up. I'm so inactive it's not even funny . So since I was so sore yesterday I went through some walking trails by me rain and all! No excuses, plus it stretched out my legs :D .

We shall see what results I get!! Thanks for reading!

Hi Shellsy - I was wondering what'd happened to you. Glad to see you're back on track. And you're right - just doing SOMETHING is better than doing nothing. Fixing the problem and not the blame should be your first priority. Welcome back.

Thanks! It just really sucks that I have to go through the soreness of my legs again  It didnt seem like I over did it, but I sure did! And sitting at a desk all day not stretching and moving is making it so much worse. I didnt even do all the lunges they encouraged!! It's going to take a few more days till they're healed so tonight I'm gonna do upper body and soak me legs!

Good luck to you Shells - I KNOW you can attain your goals!

Just keep focused and consistent and you will do very well.

Thanks LV, that means a lot!!

Ok so last night I did an arm work out, mainly biceps and triceps. They feel a nice sore today! My legs I finally can walk on :D . Not sure what I'm gonna do today depending on leaving work EARLY please!! lol! I would love to do a pilates video and roller blade!

Thanks Stingo!!

So yay me, I get to leave work at 12!! So I definitly will get in a great workout video and if its nice enough out go roller blading!! It snowed yesterday:eek: crazy right!!

We've been spared the snow but not the cold so far.

Reading your posts you seem happier and more energetic - these are good things. :)

Yeah finally! But it wasmy own self standing in the way!!

Ok so did a pilates video! Was good for the core, a little rough doing the bridges since my legs are till sore. I must take a picture next time cause my cat thinks I'm laying n the floor to be with her! So as Im laying there shes laying right next to me with not a care in the world even though I'm raising up and down. Too funny you have to see!

Too cold out to go roller blading oh well! I have off till Wednesday so I will have plenty of time to play! :D

It almost always is yourself that's standing in the way of your progress. For core work, have you ever considered/used a stability ball and/or a bosu ball? Both can add quite a variety to your routine.

Wasn't to active Sat & Sun. Just did a lower body routine, even felt my heart rate go up! I know I'm gonna be feeling this tomorrow!

HAHA yes! I actually decided since its not that nice out to bring up the stationary bike to get in my cardio while watching my tv lol. I will do upper body tonight and as long as I can on the bike as well :D

On the food front ; I'm SICK and TIRED of throwing away food that we don't eat in time!! We spend so much for meats and veggies and half of it goes to waste!! So I decided that now that I have more time on my hands I will keep a few essentials in the house, but stop at my favorite market on my way home for that nights dinner. Especially being BBQ season, how fun to grab a nice ready made kababs from the butcher and throw em on the grill!! I'll let ya know how it goes -anyone else do that???

I kind of do - I'll have an idea of what I want to make on the weekdays (assuming I don't have anything in the freezer that needs reheating or I just want something different) then go to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients on the way home. Rather than throwing the food away, you should get plastic containers and put the leftovers in to freeze them. That way you have something ready to eat that you have to just pop in the microwave (and a heck of a lot better for you than tv dinners).

I do that, but certain things I don't like after freezing. I do freeze my fruits now for my shake ;) Love that shake!!

My biggest kick lately is making different crust-less quiches - I'm excited to make a shrimp asparagus one YUM!! Then I cut them up and wrap them individually for a quick bite!

Crust-less quiches...will have to remember that one. I love quiches...:D

They're fun cause you can tailor them to what you want, change it up. I even add the perdue chicken short cuts for extra protein!

So did a quick fullbody workout video using 5 lbs weights even on squats and lunges  :D

Then did a yogo video for the core - that was CRAZY TOO!

I feel good though! I figured since I hit my whole body, tomorrow I will focus on cardio for sure. I so dread cardio unless its roller blading or something fun -they do have a hip hop cardio video and a strip tease cardio video -that could be intresting ;)

Also I'm proud I haven't touched the scale! I'm really gonna fight to stay away from it for at least another week.

So I know being sore isnt a sign of of a good workout - but being so early on I would think that I would be sore for the next few workouts, but today so far nothing! :( I know I pushed myself and felt "the burn". I'm a bit worried to why I'm not sore.

Who can say - sometimes it's not until a couple of days after that you feel a workout. I know from experience that I took my first Pilates class on a Wednesday evening. Thursday I was fine - didn't feel anything. But Friday I could barely get out of bed lol.

Your body may just have had a good day where everything was in place to have a great workout and repair itself enough so it wouldn't make an impact.

If you're interested in a beginning yoga DVD, I'd suggest Rodney Yee's Am/Pm Yoga. The AM part is really stretching exercises, and the PM is a basic yoga workout. It might be too simple for you, but might be worth having when time's of an issue since both workouts are about 20 mins each.

Also, I'm very glad you seem to have finally found what works for you. Congrats - and keep at it. :)
