I'm just plain lazy

OK I'm ready to admit to myself I'm lazy.

I don't have motivation to excersize and I don't eat properlly.. I hardly ever eat vegtables, so bad I know, and either I end up eating a whole bunch of crap in the day, or hardly anything at all. I know to eat 6 meals a day but my mom buys the food and I dont really have to big a say on what gets eaten for dinner. But I could try to talk to my mom about it

I'm 5'6 18 yrs old abd weigh around 130 pounds.
I don't think I'm fat.. but when I look in the mirror I can see the fat if that makes sence. I'm really at a loss of how to keep motivated. I always think to myself I could be doing something more fun than excersizing. Or I'll see some junk food and think "oh just this once won't hurt"

if anyone has any tips at all that would be appreciated

You have to ask yourself, how much do you want it?

Everyone here can offer you advise but you have to get yourself squared away, like with goals or something.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.

Honestly we can't really help you there, you need to have your own epiphany. Just pray you have it before you're sat in front of a doctor who's explaining to you that you have diabetes or something even worse.

You're only young and not over weight, but you'd be surprised how quickly the years can roll by without realising you've put of 40 pounds.

In the mean time, until you have a revelation take some baby steps. Replace those soft drinks (if you drink them) with diet versions, then after a while some green tea. Try cut back on the junk food replace one or two meals a week with healthy options, then four or five meals, then six or seven and so on.

Whatever you do don't get stuck in the habit of yo-yo dieting. It's the worst thing you can do and will effect how you store fat on put on weight for the rest of your life. Don't do silly fad diets and the like.

Most importantly, enjoy life. You're only young. If you don't like jogging or running or hitting the gym, try outdoorsy stuff like canoeing or nature walking, or rock climbing. Whatever you think that sounds like fun that doesn't involve sitting in front of the TV and computer.

I had that attitude for 43 years. I'll tell you where it might take you. As you get older, your muscle mass will decline. You will get a beer belly, possibly moobs, a double chin. Your self esteem will probably be poor, and you might drink a little too much booze. You struggle to run with your kids; at the pub, you're called 'the big man'. It wont just be about the fat though. Your skin wont be the same, your hair, etc. Sex might not be as good as it could be, you may lack stamina.

At work, your physical appearance, and your poor self image will probably stop you advancing. You get out of breath walking up the stairs, you cant climb around obstacles, or squeeze through narrow areas - people laugh about it, and you laugh with them - you have to. You may suffer from terrible indigestion problems - such as heartburn etc. You may pop anti-acid pills and potion as though they are a normal fact of life. You might not sleep well at night, you heard about someone at work - your age, who is on life support, your heart beats irregular, or at least you think it is. You wonder how many years you have left.

Ok, you might get lucky - you may reach 43 and then suddenly wake up, learn to exercise, loose weight, learn to eat right. Or you may not.

its cause and effect;

workout - acheive goals
be lazy - get fat

find your own motivations.
don't make excuses for yourself.

cmon man your 18 yrs old. buy your own damn food.

You're the only person that can make you do anything, unless a gun is being held to your head. Even then, you're still controlling your actions, but you may not 'like' or agree with those actions.

Ask yourself 'why?'. Why do you want to change your body? The answer should be because you want "whatever it is you want". Maybe that's 'no love handles'...or maybe 'to bench press 225lbs'.

Set some goals. Use those as something to strive for. Dare yourself to succeed and find your own inner motivation. Reward yourself with 'toys' if necessary (If I get lean, I'll buy that motorcycle I've always wanted).

of course, keep goals and rewards within reason.

Fly is right how much really do you to want it.

Get yourself a partner that will help on your workout or someone that also do workout its much more fun if your exercising with your friends you don't feel the pain or even getting tired because while your doing your work out your enjoying the company of friends..And about the foods train yourself to eat healthy food.

i used to absouletly hate exercising but i wanted to change my body. i didnt have anyone who would stick to going to a gym or running with me everyday. now i run everyday (by myself). i still have to force myself to do it, but i think about how good ill feel afterwards. i want to be healthy and have confidence. also, i want to look good naked!!! Doesnt everyone want to look good naked?!!

if you dont do anything to change yourself, you must not want it that bad. you must be satisfied with yourself the way you are or youd change it. the only person who can make the decision to change and improve yourself is you.

Only you can get yourself started. You have to be motivated to start eating healthier and working out. If you're not motivated enough, you won't want to do anything no matter what anyone here say to you. I would suggest to take a picture of yourself look at it every hour or so, tell yourself you want to look better and try to do some kind of exercise that you would like to do. Don't just do something you won't like. That's why alot of people are lazy. They don't find the right exercise for them.

Find a reason to make it to your goal. You want to look good? Then exercise, eat right, and you will.

I was able to motivate myself because I worked out with a partner, and each week we would review our goals and encourage each other.

You can do it! Hey, if I can then you can! The key is to just get started - don't think about it, do it! Do something light to start with like going for a walk each day. Buy yourself an iPod if you think you will be bored.

I've found that it's too easy to give up if you try to eat better and start an exercise programme at the same time. But you do need to make some sacrifices, but phase the good eating in slowly. I love my junk food as well, but I've found the more I exercise the less junk food I crave. I used to drink a couple of cans of coke a day, but then I cut it down to one a day and then one every other day, and now I might have one once a week at the most. I mainly drink water instead now. I still eat the odd chocolate bar, but again instead of once a day is now only once a week.

Good luck and go for it!

As of right now you dont seem to be "fat" but you will surely turn into a fat sac of crap in a few years if you dont change your lifestyle now. Luckily you can change your feelings towards food. Everytime you get the urge to eat look at something like this () print that out and keep it in your pocket. Seriously though, there is no reason to ever be fat, just dont eat. Its unbelievably simple...

Lack of motivation is always something that can be solved, so dont worry. You just have to sit down and set yourself a goal aswell as thinking about all the good things that will happen once you have reached this goal. If you lose a few pounds and get more toned you may find you get more attention from the ladies, and being fitter in general will make you feel better everyday you wake up. Set yourself a goal today and then people here can help you reach that goal, but remember YOU have to do the work, so you need to get in the right frame of mind.

I know how you feel as I felt 100 times worse about 15 months ago when I weighed 240 lbs and couldnt bear to look at myself in the mirror. I am 5ft 7 in height so 240 lbs was extremely overweight. I`m now down to 165lbs and feel on top of the world. I have a new girlfriend, a superb new career that involves travelling around the world on business and I`m buying a new apartment next month instead of living with my folks like last year. This isnt me boasting, its just to prove that things can change very quickly if you put in some effort. I couldnt bear to go to a gym for the first few months of my weight loss so I just cut out junk food and did some walking daily and the lbs dropped off, then I got the courage to go to the gym, and guess what, there were many other people like me there so its a great place to be. If you need advice just ask here but you have to want to do it.
