Quick Abs Question

I work abs every other day. And they show decently, but have stopped growing per say, and aren't getting any more defined. What I mean is that there has been no progress in a while. Could it be that I am working them too much? Or am I just not doing the right excercises?

What are some of the best ab exercises you know of?

Lol. I am not that much of a newbie, I know that diet plays the biggest role. I have a good diet, that is not a problem. But seriously, what ab exercises are best? For example, I heard that knee-ups were not all that effective. And I am looking for effective ones.

Well you are over working your abs by doing them every other day. Abs are like any other body part, they need recovery. If you are doing good compound work for the rest of your body that alone can give you enough proper ab training.

Also if trying to put on muscle you need to be in a surplus of calories, if you want them to show more, that takes losing body fat (being in a deficit), simple as that. Your diet must be pretty clean to get to that last bit of definition.

Some good abs moves are...

Planks
Hanging Leg Raises
Cable Crunches
Russian Twists (For Obliques)

I only bother with hanging leg raises, wood choppers and reverse wood choppers.

There is no point trying to Isolate a core muscle with crunches.

Yes, having a fairly low body fat is going to be the deciding point in whether your abs show or not, but there are still many benefits achieved from working your abs regularly. If you are interested I have in depth articles and videos of me performing the exercises on my link. I think these will help you a lot and show you the proper form in order to make maximum gains.
