Bogus Body Fat Percentage

Ah, I'm a guy in case you didn't know, lotus. Yeah, anorexic tendencies are rare in guys, but almost all who have them were overweight to start with, like me.

I assume this because you suggested I might aspire to be a supermodel:D . Don't know many guys who do this...

Thanks for all the help.

Is the bioimpedence meter mentioned above the electronic device that has two handle grips that you hold onto? I recently tried a device like that and it yielded 11.8%, which seems accurate.

at 5'9" and 126lbs, I totally believe you're a 6.5% bodyfat waif with hardly any muscle mass. And that's the issue. You have an extremly low bodyfat...bordering on unhealthy. bodybuilders will get that low for a couple weeks for a big competition, then they hop back up to 10% or more.

but you appear to be under-eating and exercising to the point of breaking down muscle for energy. BAD IDEA.
becuase of this, your muscles aren't strong, aren't big, so they don't bulge out into a nice washboard stomach.

furthermore, a 6pack is genetic. some people have 6packs, some have 8packs, some have 4...some never get any because their genetics dictate incredibly lean abs that just don't bulge.

Now, I'f you need me to I'll post a picture of myself, and I'm pretty sure that it'll convince you that I'm way above 6.5%, and by no means unhealthily skinny.

As for the ab thing, I have a brother who is 21, marginally shorter than me and exactly the same weight, and his abs are more visible than mine. He generally appears skinnier but at the same time is a healthy guy who eats plenty, but has done little proper exercise in years. I've always assumed a similar potential in myself. The months of undereating have probably made my muscles waste away. I agree with what blooming lotus says; just because I'm underweight does not mean I have low BF.

A six pack is nOt genetic!!.. I've had a six pack, an eight pack and a nopack and I can assure you all it boils down to is good diet and hard work.
You may have more athletic potential in your family but to say thaat, is ..just not true.
I don't know where you're getting your information.

lol couldn't say it any better.. Malkore, your blinded by facts buddy.

- everyone has the same amount of muscles & the visibility of the abdominal muscles depends on the body fat %, basically the fatty layer covering the stomach.

and like Blooming Lotus said, there are people who "just" has to work hard to gain, whereas for some others, they are just genetically lucky.

& i strongly believe for feather's case

he hasn't developed the "abdominal muscles" yet, imo, he needs to work out his core more thus needs to eat more. atm he has skin covering over his ribs.

A lot of those scales have a normal person mode, and a athletic person mode, depending on the mode, it will be way off.
